I softly stared at her, taking in her features, her beauty.

I gently brushed her hair from her slightly pale face. I smiled when she started to stir in her sleep.

I slowly sat myself on the bed, being careful not to wake her. I untied my snow covered boots and threw them off my sore feet.

Not even bothering to change into something more appropriate for bed, I jumped under the covers, pulling her into me, wrapping my arms around her tightly.

She muttered something, half asleep she turned her head to look at me. A tired smile spread across her face.

As if it were contagious, I smiled back.

She wrapped her arms around me, and nuzzled into my chest.

I chuckled slightly and began to stroke her hair. "When did you get here?" She asked softly.

"Moments ago, dear." I spoke into her neck. She looked at me with an expression I couldn't read.

"Have you eaten today?" I diverted my eyes from her. Of course I haven't, I've been much too busy to even think about eating.

She sighed and caressed my face. "When was the last time you've slept, love?" I looked her in the eyes, honesty filling mine.

"I can't remember." Her face turned from unreadable, to worried. I looked away from her.

"Please Draco, you have to stop this." Her voice started to break. She placed a hand on my cheek, desperate for me to look at her.

I cleared my throat, ending the silence. "You know I can't do that, Alice." I sat myself up, leaning against the wooden headboard of the bed.

She positioned her head in my lap and peered into my eyes. "It's killing you Draco." She closed her eyes tightly, causing her forehead to crease. "He's killing you."

I cringed at her reference to the Dark Lord. She grabbed my hand and laced our fingers together, tightly.

"It will all be over soon, my dear." I cooed softly, rubbing her arm. I heard her begin to cry.

"Don't cry, Alice. Please, Don't cry." Her response was to cover her eyes, draping her arm onto her face.

I pulled her fully onto my lap and cradled her like a child. She started sobbing hysterically, I started to comb my fingers through her hair.

"I just want my Draco back." She choked out through violent sobs. I felt my heart drop, "I miss you Draco, I miss you dearly." I held her tighter, burying my face into her hair.

"I'm here now, dear. Don't you worry."

I whispered onto her lips, kissing her softly yet passionately.

I cupped her face into my hands and left small little kisses on her cheeks and forehead. "I promise you this Alice,"

She rubbed her eyes roughly and gave me her full attention. "Once this war is over," I brought her hand to my lips, kissing it slowly.

I looked into her eyes intently. "I'm yours, all yours, always and forever."

She smiled sweetly, cheeks stained with tears, red swollen puffy eyes.

She pulled me back under the covers with her, and held onto me for dear life. I gratefully pulled her closer into me, smelling the scent of shampoo in her hair.

I knew she'd be safe here, at Malfoy Manor, Just until this war is over. I know she's lonely, and frightened, but I also know she has a place in my life.

I'm not giving her up that easily, and no one can change that, not even the Dark Lord himself.

"Happy anniversary, my dear." I whispered into her ear. She smiled once more and kissed me, wrapping her arms around my neck.

She ended the kiss and laid her head on my chest. "Merry Christmas, Draco, my love."
