Chapter 13: The Protector of Concord Dawn

The Ghost drops out of hyperspace, flew past the rebel ships, and then hooks onto the command ship. Kadan, Zeb, Leo, and Ezra walk onto the bridge. "We got the supplies, but we were fortunate to get away." Kadan informs them as they step up to the holo table, "The Empire is making our travels around the outer rim our tougher each time." Kadan states as he leans against the table next to Hera. 

"Yes. We need a new hyperspace route out of the Lothal sector." Sato informs them as he looks down at the holo. "Somewhere that the Empire wouldn't suspect us going," Leo states as he leans a holo as well. "I may have an idea. The system of Concord Dawn, it's a Mandalorian colony and not in Imperial territory yet." Sabine states as she pulls up the map of Concord Dawn.

Leo just looks at her in surprise. "Sabine, are you sure you want to fly through their system?" Leo asks as he was worried for her then Ezra steps forward. "Why not, they just about grab up every other place." he states and Mako looks at him, "Hint the word, yet." she reminds him. "Concord Dawn is own for its elite soldiers, they were brought in to train clones back in the war, I bet even the Empire thinks twice then to fight with them," Rex informs them as Mako leans against her elbows. "The question is, who are they loyal to?" Sato asks them and they all looked at him, "The Empire does occupy their homeworld Mandalore, so Imperial influence could be a factor." Sato states.

"Years before the Clone wars broke out, the Mandalorians were already at war with each other, this group calls themselves the protectors, they like to make up their own rules," Sabine informs them. "Let's not forget they also follow tradition, the strongest of cleverest of their fighters is deemed leader and they follow him until other challenges him for his place," Leo informs them.

Mako thinks to herself, knowing who that reminded her of as Leto just chirps out to them. "Sounds familiar." Hera whispers to Kadan and the two shot a look over at them, "So we go in with strength, scout the system defenses, and see what we're up against." Sato suggests and Mako stood up. "Or. We can use diplomacy, ask them if we could use their system as a shortcut." Kadan informs them, "Diplomacy, warriors like these only understand strength." Sato states and both Sabine and Leo nod at him. "He's got a point." Sabine states, "That's true." Leo agrees as well. 

"But not everything can be settled with war." Mako informs them, "She's right, we don't need to make an enemy of the Dawn if we don't need to. If we get permission to fly through their space. The next step is recruitment, to grow the rebellion we need friends like these Mandalorians, we could have our route and a powerful ally as well." Hera informs them. Sato sighs and looks at them, "Very well Syndullia, the mission is your." Sato tells him, "Mind if Leo and I tag along?" Sabine asks her, "Me as well?" Mako asks her too. "I was hoping you would ask," she states and they walk out of the bridge.

Kadan watches them leave, "Looks like diplomacy won the day." Ezra states and Kadan turns to him, "Back in the day, diplomacy always one the day." Kadan informs them and Zeb crosses his arms as he smirks.

The fighter squad flew out to the planet that was a quarter gone, "So that Concord Dawn, sure looks like it has been through a war." Hera states and Sabine smirks. "It sure has been through a hundred wars. My people don't need a reason to fight." Sabine informs her, "Then what do your people fight for?" Mako asks her and Sabine didn't answer as the Dawn fighters threw out to them. "Phoenix squadron we have visitors." Hera warns them, Leto growls as he glares at the fighters and Mako just pats his head "Everybody stays sharp." Sabine warns them as well as the fighters flew over them.

"But don't engage, we don't want to provoke them," Mako warns them as the fighters then flew out in front of them. "Attention unregistered ships, this is Fin Rul. Protector of Concord Dawn. You are trespassing, identify yourself." he orders them "We come in peace, Protector." Hera informs him "Peace? That's not a word I hear often. State your mission?" he orders. "We do not quarrel with you or your people, Protector Fin Rul, all we ask is a safe passage through your system," Mako answers him. "That depends, who's asking." he asks of her, "Those who would stand with Concord Dawn, against the Empire," Hera answers him.
