Chapter 10: Jenn's World

I can hear my baby's heart beating from my belly. How did I end up? This isnt supposed to happen to me. How did I end up here? How!

Earlier that evening.

"Jenn! Your phone is ringing, it's an unknown number" shouted Mira

"Hey, give it to me." Mira hands Jenn the phone. "Hi, this is Jenn. Who is this?"

"Jenn, it's me. I need you. I want to be in my child's life. She's a Carter not a fucking Nnaji" Mr Carter heavily breathed in the receiver.

"Wait. I thought you wanted nothing to do with my bastard child. That's what you said and I believe you"

"How are you though? Do you need anything?"

"No, I have enough love and support from the people around. Listen, go to Miss Drama and tell her your story and that you messed." Jenn spoke effortlessly "I am sure she will take you back. You two are good together"

"She's no you Jennifer, you know that" Mr Carter wailed.

There was silence, no one spoke for a few seconds however it feels like an eternity.

"You may not want anything to do with me, but can I see you tonight. I am going back to Ochi Rios and I want to see you before I go." He continued

"Fine. I'll meet you at the usual spot, at 7pm" Jenn spoke and then hang up the phone.

Mira walked into the bedroom with a glass of water than Jenn had asked her for prior.

"Who was that?" Mira questioned.

"No one, just some crosses sale guy tryna get me to buy a data plan"

"Oh ok. I hate those people. So annoying" Mira laughed. "What are your plans for the evening?"

"Um. Nothing, I'll probably go to the park ot something. I need to clear my head. I just need to breathe."

Mira looked at Jenn with nurturing eyes. "If you want me to come with you, just say the word. People can be so judge when they see a pregnant teen."

"It's ok, I'll be fine on my own. Thank you Mira." Jenn open her arms and jesters towards Mira for a hug to which she obliged.
