Virgil's POV:

I look up at the pale blue sky, sitting on my deck, watching the clouds. In my hand, I hold my report card, in which I got all F's. As you can see, I haven't been doing too well in school. I usually skip class and just cry in the bathroom. No one knows though, but it's fine.

I crumple up the piece of paper and head inside, throwing it in the trash. I quickly walk upstairs to my bedroom and lay on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. Sometimes I wonder why I even try. What's the point of trying when all you do is fail? To fail over and over again? It's not like I'll ever have a chance at doing anything right. I'll just keep on failing.

I hear my phone start to ring so I look at the contact. Roman. I groan and pick it up, not really wanting to talk to my boyfriend while I'm in a bad mood, but I don't want to ignore him. So I take the call.

"Hello?" I say.

"Hey, Virgil! How's life?"

"It's alright. How about you?"

"I'm doing AMAZING!"

I smile at the thought of him being in a good mood. "Haha, that's good!"

"Yeah, soooo, I got A's in all of my report card! I even got an A+ in my drama class!"

Envy eats away at me but I ignore it. "That's good, that's good. I'm so proud of you!"

"I know right! What'd you get?"

"I did alright." Lie.

"Yeah, but like, what grades? I wanna tell everyone how smart my boyfriend is!" Oh God.

"Well, I don't know my exact grades."

"You don't?"

"No. I threw my report card away."

"What! Why?!"

"I always throw it away. It's just a stupid piece of paper to make you feel special or like shit. It means nothing."

"But if you don't get good grades, then you won't do good in life! Like, you'll basically be a failure."

Annoyance bites on my heart, but instead of acting on it, I ignore it. "Many famous people have dropped out of school and became wealthy. I don't think THATS a failure."

"Well, I guess, but you'd need a talent that everyone loves."

"I can sing, play guitar, and piano."

"Yeah, that's true, but you should still work hard in case if that plan backfires."

"Do you think that I could...ya know...be the lead singer of a band someday?"

"Only if it's some band like My Chemical whatever Sweetheart."

I sigh, shaking my head in disappointment. "It's My Chemical Romance, you idiot."

"Ya, that's what I said!"

"No it wasn't."

"Pffffttttt, it sooooo was."

I smile, shaking my head. "Hmmm, suuuurrrreeeeee."

"Soooo, what'd you get for grades?"

"Why do you care so much?"

"Cause I'm curious!"

I shake my head. "I don't remember."

"Yes you dooooo."

I furrow my eyebrows in annoyance. "How'd you know?"

"I can just tell." I can feel that he's smiling like an idiot right now.
