GREYSON ASHER CORNER

"Paul?"

"Sir?"

"What kind of party would your daughter like to have?"

"I haven't spoken to her about it yet sir."

"Why not?"

"I don't make calls while on duty, sir."

"In that case then, when you take me to my Tasha's house, you'll have the day off. Ill remind Ryan to hurriedly make the flyers for job vacancy. You must talk to her about it, don't tell her that I'll be there. Just talk to her about it, find out what she would like in a party if she were to have one. The celebrities she'd love to meet, the kinds of food she'd love to eat, the activities she would love to do, an estimate of the amount of people to be invited......basically, I want to know what her dream party would be. I need that information before the end of today."

"Sir, I am happy that you're putting my daughter's affairs into your schedule but I have to decline your help."

"We aren't back to this, are we?"

"I already feel bad for having you lessen my job for her sake but you really don't have to bother with her party."

"If it makes you feel any better Paul, I have my own selfish reason for doing this. I'm trying to woo a woman and she owes me. She cooks and I want to spend as much time with her without being awkward and the only way is to make her cook on your daughter's birthday."

"It will still be very awkward for you sir. Will you walk up to her while she is cooking and try to talk to her or what? She works for you, if you ask the restaurant to provide catering services for a birthday, they won't have an option but to do so, there's no need to waste your card on something like this."

"Then what can I do?" I had to admit, he had an amazing point there. It would be a waste to spend my one card in such a stupid manner.

"Ask her out like a man would. She is under an obligation to do whatever you ask so use the card, be straightforward and ask her out."

"She has a fiancé."

"Then shouldn't you give up on her totally?" he looked surprised. I don't think he would have ever thought that his boss would be running up and down chasing after an affianced woman.

"I.....It's impossible at this point."

"I have no advice for you sir. I've never been in such a situation." I really wanted to laugh but the weight of having to make a decision suppressed all humor I had.

"It's fine. Just make sure you get all the information I asked and send them to Ryan. He will plan the birthday."

"Thank you, sir." At least he spared me much more frustration by finally agreeing.

After a while, probably by 10am, we reached my auntie's house. I took the keys from Paul and gave him some cash to take a taxi home. As expected, he refused but being my annoying self, I managed to make him take it. I knocked on the door and I didn't have to wait for five seconds before the door opened and revealed my aunty. Her hair was everywhere, she had eye bags, she was wearing the same nighty she wore when I came last night and all in all, she looked deranged.

"Aunty! I told you to sleep. I'm not in a hurry." I stretched out my hand in a futile attempt to arrange her hair.

"Shut up and come inside. I'm so excited to show this to you!" I went inside but I still felt sad that she stayed up all night trying to do something for me.
