"Hinata-kun, are you excited for the game against Nekoma on the last day of camp?" You asked as Hinata handed you back your smoothie, after he'd chugged half of it.
"I'm super excited! Nekoma's one of the powerhouse school's so they're gonna be really strong!!" You licked your thumb and wiped the trickle of berry smoothie leaving the corner of his mouth as he talked.
On the other side of you as you walked, Kageyama sipped his milk through the straw carton, his other hand clutching your bag strap so you didn't get separated. Although, there wasn't that much in the traffic of people that would incline you would actually get separated. But nevertheless, you let him because it seemed to calm him down, he wasn't picking on Hinata as much either.
There was a few things on your agenda today, so you were going to have to miss out on the lunchtime practice with the two of them.
"Hey so..." You paused, wondering how best to tell them you couldn't have lunch with them, "I'll be gone during lunch time today, so... so I can't practice".
"How come?" Kageyama said flatly, he stopped walking as you were just about to the hill, next to the little convenience store.
Maybe it was because it was so early, it was only 5:00am after all, but Kageyama's demeanor seemed to change completely.
"Uh.. I have a specialist appointment... for my knee" Leaning forwards slightly to combat against the force pulling you backwards by your bag, you turned around to look at Kageyama.
A little bit of anxiety began to stir in your chest as the setter glared back at you, "Is your knee ok?"
"I'm sure (Y/n)-san would've told us if she wasn't alright Kageyama-kun, you worry too much" Hinata waved off the taller boy's impressive grip on your bag and urged the three of you to continue your walk to school.
"Yes, I would" Your stomach felt like it was doing flips, but not the heart-fluttering ones, more like the ones you feel when you're about to throw up.
Feeling a tickling urge in your throat, you reached up and coughed into your hand, which thankfully yielded no unwanted substances in your palm. However, it did catch Kageyama's, already stirred, attention once again.
"Are you sick?"
"No, Kageyama-kun, I just have an itchy throat".
It was the truth, but for some reason it made you feel like you were just spitting out some cheap excuse, and honestly it made you feel worse as the three of you passed in through the school gate.
"Well a smoothie's no good for that" He said and snatched the drink out of Hinata's hands.
"HEY!"
"Kageyama-kun you're being stupid!" What's with him? He's being so weird and clingy! Not to mention he's fussing over me like my mother used to, and with the same dumb logic! You desperately tried to snatch the cup back while holding back the leaping orange-haired boy from attacking his setter. "Give it back to Hinata-kun!"
Kageyama became negligent and held the cup up over his head, meaning you'd actually have to jump him to get the smoothie drink back.
"Bakayama! Give it back!"
There was a splat and a spilling noise as the cardboard cup dropped to the path between you and shot its contents onto both of your shoes. Kageyama's eyes were huge but his pupils were tiny, his breathing was rugged and whisky, like he'd just finished a 5km sprint.
He stumbled backwards, falling back onto his lower back... face as pale as chalk.
