I should have left that hell hole as soon as I was born. I curled up in a ball sobbing as I covered my ears from Mama's screaming at Papa. I squeaked loudly when I heard thudding noises coming upstairs, papa was drunk. I held my little sister Annabelle tighter as I closed my eyes, praying he wouldn't come into this room. Go to the other childrens room. The noises stopped in front of the door I heard my Little Anna start to cry slightly. I heard a sneer behind the door before he walked away.

Then there was screaming from the other room. I glanced at Anna, it was like a reflection of myself but younger. We had the same dark brown hair, same light blue eyes. I sighed standing up walking over to my bed. "A-Alice" my sister hiccuped, she looked me in the eyes trying to see if there was another way to let me stay. I shook my head and held her in my arms, "I will always love you, I'll come back for you-" I hesitated and grabbed my gray leather suitcase from under my bed, "I promise" I finished. I tucked her into bed and stood up grabbing a crowbar as I peered opened the window, I quickly started to climb out, I held onto the handlebars of the door looking at the beautiful clear moon, I closed my eyes.

I let go.

~~~~~
Quickly, I started falling twisting in the dark air slightly as I held my breath. I opened my eyes looking around as I started to see it again, the fragrances of that place. The tea table, the cookie jar, the- I landed on a stack of hay, I winced as it pricked at my skin, I fell off it almost wanting to sleep on the ground, but, I stood up.
I started to walk holding my bag closer to me. I saw a fountain and quickly walked over to it. I glanced seeing my reflection, my gray dull dress that had a simple fanned-out skirt was reflecting as I looked down at my gray leather boots. I put my hand near the water and cupped my hands holding it steadily, I quickly drank the water smiling as the cold water helped my sore throat.
I looked at the fountain again to have another drink when I saw myself, but it wasn't myself. It grabbed onto my arm with a unhuman grin as it started to pull me into the fountain, "Stop! Stop it!" I was pulled underwater choking, how was the fountain now wide, like an ocean? I held my neck gasping for air when I was pulled back up to the surface, I was being dragged away. "LET GO OF ME-" I was thrown onto the side of the road, I was alone again.
I scoffed slightly, it was normal to be like this, people will either use you or kill you in this world. I held my bag tightly as I saw a small object- well, person mostly. The person had pale blonde hair and was near my age, they were- hopping? I raised an eyebrow as I looked both ways, I followed the person out of curiosity.
I followed the person, until they stopped in the middle of the place. "Pardon, are you alright, miss?" I put my hand on they're arm until I realized, she was one of them. I tried to pull my hand away from the fake person shaking in fear as I tried to take my hand away from them, It was sticking onto my hand. I started screaming trying to pry my hand away and-
I sobbed as the person kept shaking me, "Miss? Miss are you alright? Miss!" I woke up staring at the lady, it was the same blonde. "Oh thank the Queen of England" I raised an eyebrow about to say something when she cut me off, "don't worry, Madame! 'our save here" she rambled in a thick french accent. I looked around standing up slightly , I was in a large room that had twenty single beds on each side, and one huge lantern in the middle of the room. "Am-Am I in an orphanage?" I guessed staring at the lady. She grinned jumping into a desk, "purrhaps? Or I am in za real 'orld, and 'our in the other, or the sides and diffrents, and madder with tatters" she rhymed looking like a lunatic, am I the only sane one?
"W-Who are you?" I asked a bit worried as I fumbled with my fingers, it was unusual for someone to be kind, or truly, talk to me. The blonde scratched her head, " I am who I am, but perhaps, who are you when you don't know who you are, Alice?" She shrugged cartwheeling in the air over to stand in front of me. Now that I saw her eyes clearly they were violet purple, I gulped standing my ground, " Didn't you hear me? Who are you, and how do you know my name?" I scoffed crossing my arms stubbornly. The girl stopped grinning and finally gave up, "Stubborn you are, I'll give you a tip of the hat, I am Alice R, the rose of the thornbush" she cleared her voice introducing herself bowing slightly. I cringed at her "politeness",
"I suppose you already know my name, because my name is your's, which is unfair for me" I added putting my hands behind my back.
~~~~~

After a bit of chatting with Alice R we agreed on me staying at the orphanage for a while, "Get some night sleep, Alice" Alice R blew out the candle and I was left in pitch darkness, I closed my eyes and smiled slightly- than there was a noise. I opened one of my eyes sleepily as I glanced around the room. I yawned crawling out of the bed as I stood up looking around. The noise was coming from upstairs. I climbed up the stairs and glanced around, when I saw a small black cat quickly pace around the upstairs attic. It than jumped onto something and disappeared. I raised an eyebrow and secretly tiptoed over to where the cat disappeared. It was so bright I had to cover my eyes, I glanced back at the hole and saw glasses and tables, tea pots, and chairs, cookie jars and cupcakes floating around. I stared in awe at the beautiful glittery hole- "Alice, you have to save us" I heard a voice behind me and squeaked turning around quickly, it was Alice R, but she looked like she was decaying, with some pieces of her skin falling apart. "Find the mad hatter, it's your only chance"

"What does that mean!?" I yelled stepping back slightly as Alice R started to walk towards me, "your sanity is at stake, you have to wake up" and just like that she pushed me down the rabbit hole.
