Song of the chapter: Remember Everything - Five Finger Death Punch

-*-*-*-*-*-

I woke up to darkness. Darkness surrounding me and darkness in my mind. There wasn't a thought in my mind except for, where am I?

I placed my hand in front of my face, and found I couldn't see it. I couldn't see the colour of my hair, the clothes I was wearing or the colour of my skin. But, I thought, shouldn't I know this already?

I didn't. I didn't know anything. I didn't know who my family were, who my friends were, where I grew up, what school I went to, nothing. I knew I had these things, yet I didn't know what they were, or who they were. I didn't even know my name. I squeeze my eyes shut.

...

My name,

R-

R-

R...

I huffed in frustration. I couldn't remember my name, and I felt stupid. I opened my eyes and looked around again. I was getting used to the darkness, and I could finally see, although not much.

I was in a small space, and there was something at the other end of the small space. I moved my foot and kicked the object. A wooden box. Why?

I stood up to go and check the box, and pain shot through my head. I had hit the top of the small area with my head. Am I in a box myself? What's going on?

I stood up slowly this time, putting my hand above my head, and feeling the metal above me. It was freezing cold, and rusty. I walked over to the crate, and took the lid off. The lid clattered to the ground, and I winced at the noise. I peered into the box to find a load of... weapons? My hand grips the edge of the crate. Why are there weapons? I'm in a box, its not as though I'm going to fight anyone.

Suddenly, the box jolted and made funny noises. I looked around, and noticed a strange blue light had cast around the box I was in. It started to shake and it jolted upwards, at an immense speed. I lost my balance and fell to the ground, knocking the crate down at the same time. The weapons fell out, but none had cut me. I picked a knife closest to me and held it tightly.

The box was still moving upwards, but it had slowed down a considerable amount. I was surprised I didn't feel scared, even though I had no idea what was happening to me. My stomach had dropped, but that was only because of the box moving. I now had a knife and another 10 weapons on the floor to defend myself with, and I was staying away from the thought that I had lost all of my memories.

The box stopped moving, and the force threw me into the air. Not too much, but enough to make it hurt when I fell back down. I winced and squeezed my eyes shut. The groaning noise the box had made had finally stopped, and all was quiet save for the slight buzzing in my ear. This carried on for what felt like hours, but was probably only 5 minutes. I didn't move, didn't make a sound.

Suddenly, there was a screeching of metal against metal, and a burst of light came through the box. Blinded, I covered my eyes with one hand and held the knife tighter in my hand.

"What the shuck?"

"What's going on?"

"Its a girl?"

"Why is the box on the floor?"

"A girl?"

"Is she hot?"

"Dibs!"

Those were the voices that I heard above me. I slowly looked up, my eyes adjusting to the light, and saw... boys?

That was unexpected.

A crowd of boys, around 20 of them, were gathered around the box, that was halfway in the ground. Some seemed giddy with excitement, others seemed extremely confused. I was with that group. What was going on?

One of the boys from the front of the crowd jumped down into the box. He landed with a thud and kicked one of the knives away. He peered down at me, obviously confused. My hand fell from my face as I stared at him. He smiled at me.

"Welcome to the Glade, greenie. Enjoy your stay."
