'Mom, I have already told you that I don't want to marry. ANYONE.' Said Hamza, pressing his teeth onto one another.

'But beta, we want you to at least look for someone, like her, we want you to get married as soon as possible so that all of us would move abroad.'

'Is there any girl you like or admire? Don't hesitate, please.'

'Um, mom, yes, there's one.'

'huf. Hamza, seriously? I have been worried for you. Okay so who is she? What does she do? How many siblings she has?'

'Mom!! Relax. I like Tayyaba. Humayun's sister.'

'Oh, that girl. She is too pretty. Great then! I would ask your dad to go over their place and talk to them anytime soon.'

Hamza didn't know telling his mother about Tayyaba was this easy.

____
I have heard people say, when there is dark, there is a light. When there are a hundred possible failures, there is that one possible hope, the hope of winning the game. The hope of being at the top of the mountain. The hope. The sun. The light. 'With every difficulty, there is relief.' -Al-Qur'an. Maybe, Tayyaba was a light for Hamza? Who knew.
____
'But mama, I already told you how I feel about Hamza. He is not a good guy mama. You already know about him, how can I even think to marry him? Please, mama.'
'Beta, we have already said them yes. He is from a very good and prestigious family. They are rich, famous, have a good family background and most importantly, I am seeing them for years now, what else do you want?'

'Mama-'

'No means no, Tayyaba. You'll be happy there. See, we are your parents, how would we want bad for you my darling?'

'Mama, that's not the point. I want to marry someone religious, you won't understand.'
'Religious? Seriously Tayyaba? How religious are you though? Do you pray five times a day? Do you fast for a month? Don't you listen to songs, Tayyaba? Religion. Religious. Huh. You are too much now. I have told you my answer. Don't you dare to discuss now. Sleep.'

Her mother went to her room without caring for what she said to Tayyaba and she, sat there, on the bed, staring at the wall, blank.

And I think that this happens with every person. Their past doesn't let them go. Their past acts as a knife, ripping their heart apart, whenever they try to move on. When they want to let go of their past, but, their past doesn't want to let go of them. When they are at the verge of mountain, just being ready to fly, up in the sky, high, but then, their past comes from the back, push them forward, and then they fall, onto the ground, leaving their past behind and themselves, onto the ground.

This time, this happened with Tayyaba. She fall, onto the ground, she didn't know how to react. What she knew was that, she was going to marry a non-religious man. She wouldn't have cared for this before but now, when she was changing herself, for that One, for God, she did care. She was failing, miserably.
