"Why?"

Jack struggled to answer Naib's question, to avoid it for a a few seconds, he sipped his tea and smiled brokenly to himself. "It's really hard to explain. Just know that I value you. Sounds weird but-"

He locked his gaze into a painting on the deep gray coloured wall and continued; See, I kind of relate to the situation you're in right now." Haunting past, being trapped... I've been through those. I have my demons more in control than you just as they were me... There is more but it will sound quite unreasonable to you and I'll talk too much if you let me."

Mercenary raised his eyebrows. He wasn't really satisfied with the answer. "Even though you sound really sketchy, not many people would do what you did. I'll simply assume we are on a truce out of the matches."

Took him long to figure out, Ripper thought. Just a small chance but... Maybe he can predict my undying affection?

"Yes. A truce sounds pretty reasonable, makes it easier for me to gain you as a friend." Jack held his cup of tea up while smiling like he achieved something.

"Not allies, but friends then. I like it. Lowers the chance of stabbed by the front." Naib said laughing.

"Sarcastic, aren't we? I won't stab you in the back or the front Naib." This is a game such are expected, but see, I gave up on my prize... Beast in me wants it badly but I want it dead. And only thing which makes him a little ineffective is you."

Naib only shrugged, he wasn't fully trusting him just yet.

Jack broke the small silence," It's your turn to tell now. Why did you keep those wounds?"

Naib looked sternly deep into Jack's eyes, considered telling him every reason, little to big, literally anything that brought him to this point. Every small thought to whole reality of how manor was a cage they all will die in. Then he thought about shrugging all his feelings off and making stories up about honor like he did to Emily , which was the most likely to come to reality

Naib sighed and told every nonsense about honor exactly to Jack.

Every second that passes made Eli more nervous. Hastur could be back at any moment and bust him copying whole text of the Prophecy. He was checking the hallway every 20 seconds to be safe but the adrenaline was distracting him. His heart started beating as if they were in a match.

Why Yellow King couldn't be more reachable like the Ripper? Naib could easily make him speak about almost anything. It was love after all..

You're comparing a sick man and a God Eli, I know you know better.

Seer rolled his eyes under the eyepatch at his owl and started packing up with frustration. He wasn't even at the important parts of the ancient book yet... While shoving the pencil into one of his secret pockets he heard gentle footsteps which paralyzed him.

Hide you idiot!!!

Eli squeezed himself into back of Hastur's bookcase. He had a view of the whole room and was afraid his hiding place was too obvious.

Gentle footsteps sounded no one like The Yellow King. They were quite familiar actually. Door creaked open and firetruck redhead with horns puzzled Eli.

Fiona stepped in the room with a unhurried manner. Without any agitation she let her delicate body fall over messy sheets.

Seer widened his eyes in shock, this could only mean one thing. Fiona was seeing Hastur for more than a while. It was known that they recognized each other as Fiona was a Priestess of a god which Hastur probably knew personally.

Well, it was pretty dissapointing that he had to sneak in while Fiona was easily getting in and even watch the ceiling full of stars recklessly. He continued theorising trying to mask his weird jealousy.

Fiona rolled over to face the closet Eli is in. As the wardrobe had narrow horizontal gaps on its doors, Fiona could easily notice him if she looked closer. Eli panicked, he was trapped in a closet in Hunter's underground. Suprisingly enough, his owl looked calm and unwary.

Fiona sighed, got up and started to turn pages of an old handwriting she found on bed as seer exhaled from relief.

Ghostly footsteps heard from the hall. It's probably Hastur in his human form. Fiona stood up from bed and started to wait for him at the door.

Eli really couldn't figure out the meaning of all these... He was sneaking under there for almost a week and spying on Hastur occasionally but he never caught a hint of Priestess and Feaster's intimacy to this day.

Hastur stepped in his room and embraced Fiona.

"Should we tell him now?" Fiona said while smiling.

Feaster nodded and smiled back directly looking at the closet Eli is in.

"...Flags countries, non of those mattered.. I killed my own people just because that was what my family did for decades." Naib finished his long explanation of lies; why he kept himself hurt which caused Jack to laugh out loudly.

"Y-You expect me to believe that? Im sorry If I'm disrespecting but... You sound like a middle school kid. If the reason is that private to make you lie to me, then be it. I won't ask more. But please promise on our truce that you will take care of yourself."

Naib almost turned into a tomato because of Jack, how could he detect lying or trust it to be lies? He couldn't risk it... Jack was truly amused of this sight and reached to hold his hand.
" Your people and victims, they're all buried deep in past. When you decided to come here by following the letter, you made your decision to forget everything and sacrifice everything for one thing you truly wanted. Remember?"

Naib held his hand shifting his gaze around the room."I do.. and I promise. On our truce."
