Chapter one.

Skylar's POV.

"Saying goodbye to someone loved is hard, letting go is harder, and we have come here today to let go of Amy Martin, who was a loving wife, mother, friend and daughter." I listened, as the priest continued his speech, until he said, "and I believe a few close family members would like to say a few words."

My dad nodded at me, telling me to go first, as I did. I walked towards the coffin, where the priest had just been standing, and looked down. It was a white coffin full of beautiful flowers and a few cards. I took out a small picture from my pocket and put it on the coffin. On the little picture was me and her, and on the white side of the picture I'd written.

You will always be loved.

Those were the words she always said before putting me to sleep as a kid, and now I'm sending her to the eternal sleep with the exact same words.

I let go of my long trail of thoughts, as I began speaking, "my mum wasn't just my mum, she was every good feeling put into one person," I choked out, trying to hold the tears back, "I promised myself not to cry today, because it wouldn't be fair to her, she would want me to be happy, but everyone wants people to stay happy after you leave them, it just doesn't happen..." I say, as the tears are now streaming down my cheeks.

"Since I was a little girl, my mum's always been my superhero, I always thought of her as the one who saves the day, the one I could always turn to when I'm in trouble without being judged or anything, she was the most beautiful person I've ever seen, when I was a little girl I thought she was a princess, and that I'd become princess after her, I guess everything's just better in that little unicorn world kids live in. My mum is not dead, she is still alive, in me, in my brother, in everyone who put her in their heart, because just because she leaves the world, it doesn't mean she's leaving the people in it, but she leaving a huge hole filled with pain and sorrow instead, it hurts so bad," I force myself into continuing, not choking on the tears that won't stop falling.

"I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore..." I say backing away walking towards my brother, who had his arms open for me. I buried my face in his chest as he hugged me, as my dad went to say his goodbye to my mum.

I felt the tears sting in my eyes, as I just let them freely fall. I felt my brother rub my back comfortingly, as I hugged him tighter.

I heard my father finish his words, as I felt a new pair of arms around me, while my brother's leaving me. I didn't really care if I didn't know the person, I just needed to cry out.

"My mother was so awesome," I heard my brother say, making me smile a bit through the tears, because it was true.

"She always knew what to say in the right time, what to say to cheer me up or keep hopes up, damn mum where are you now when I need you the most." I heard him sob a bit, before a few others who were close to her said a few words for her, until the priest said the final words before putting three shovelful's of earth onto the coffin, I looked up and saw a boy, maybe a bit younger than me, put a white rose into the grave, then disappearing in the crowd.

I frowned slightly, but shrugged it off. I turned arounf to see who had been comforting me and saw a tall guy with sandy maybe a bit blonde hair, blue eyes and sorrow on his face.

"I'm sorry for your loss," he said, before turning around disappearing in the crowd as well.

I dried off my eyes and went to look for my brother who was putting a rose on our mother's grave too, I put mine down as well and watched, as she disappeared more and more from each shoveful of earth on her coffin.

When the ceremony was over, my father drove me, Lily and Charlie to where the 'party' was going to be at, and when we arrived, Mason was already starting to get drunk. I sighed, as I joined him, this was not an evening I'd wanna remember.

My dad didn't seem to mind, because he was also 'secretly' getting a few shots, though he claims he didn't. I saw that boy with the rose from earlier and approached him.

"Who are you?" I asked, feeling a bit bad about how rude it came out.

He looked at me, a small smirk playing his lips, "I'm assuming John hasn't told you anything," he said, as I shoot him a confused look.

"Amy is my mother." He said before downing a drink, walking away, leaving me taken aback by his statement.
