"Zayn, you're sure you have everything?" I asked my bestfriend of six years as he slowly closed his suitcase, glancing over at me before nodding.
"Mostly." he responded. I gave him wide eyes and rose my hands.
"Then go get it, you're flight leaves in a few hours." I snapped, rushing around the practically empty room to figure out what he was missing. He wrapped his arms firmly around my stomach and spun me around, carrying me over to the suitcase.
"Alright," he responded, setting me down. "But I'm not sure you'll fit." he chuckled, giving me that crooked grin. I giggled nervously and unwillingly escaped from his grasp. Sure we were bestfriends, that's what Zayn thought, but I'd had the biggest crush on him since I new what a crush was. Now he was going off on tour for eight months and I'd have no other way to tell him other than Skype or by calling him, which I thought was cowardly. I wasn't sure how to tell him, but everytime I happened to look into his beautiful brown eyes it felt as though it would just slip out. I didn't really want to tell him because, how was I even sure he felt the same way? I was just a regular teeage girl, he was famous and had a bunch of other girls that were prettier than me.
"C'mon, you're going to miss your flight." I said, giving him a small smile. He nodded in agreement and followed me out of the house and threw his suitcases in the trunk. I waited patiently in the drivers side, gnawing on my thumb nail as my heart raced. I needed to tell him before he left or I'd never be able to. He plopped in the passengers seat and smiled at me, holding my gaze.
"What's wrong?" he asked, concern crossing his face. I frantically shook my head and ripped my hand away from my mouth, turning the key in the injection.
"Nothing, I'm just..." I trailed off, trying to figure out what to say. "Tired."
"No you're not, I know when you're nervous about something, Noori, just tell me." he pleaded, placing his hand on top of mine. My heart fluttered and the butterflies rose in my stomach at his touch, but gently shook it off.
"I'm not nervous, Zayn, just forget it." I retorted, keeping my eyes on the road. Zayn slowly slid his hand off mine before giving a small shrug and glancing down at his phone.
The ride there was long and quiet, I felt like I should've spoken up sooner but I wasn't really sure what to say. And now I was standing with him at security, fiddling with my thumbs and biting my lower lip. My heart continued to race and he got closer and closer to the front of the line, glancing over at me every once in a while, looking away everytime I turned my head to get a glimpse of him. A smile slowly spread across my face and I elbowed him, hugging my sides as he looked down at me, grinning.
"I'm going to miss you terribly." he sighed, turning to face me. I nodded in agreement and sucked in a breath to calm myself.
"I'm going to miss you too, eight months is a long time." I chuckled, looking down at the marble floors. Zayn nodded and lifted my chin to look up at him as he slowly moved closer to me.
"Promise you'll come visit?" he suggested, raising his eyebrows at me as he moved his hand away from my face. I nodded and placed my hand on his arm, giving him a reasurring smile.
"Promise." I replied as his turn to place his things in the bin came. I watched him, my mind racing as he placed the last of his things in the bin and turned to look at me. He gave a shrug and pulled me in for a tight hug, gently rubbing my back. I love you. Three little words that meant so much and they were the only thing that came to mind when I thought of him. I reluctantly let him go and debated on running after him, which is exactly what I did.
"Zayn, wait!" I called just as he was about to cross under the metal detector. He slowly turned and I wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. He responded with an omph and snaked his arms around my waist, hugging me tighter.
"What is it?" he asked, pulling his face away from my shoulder to look at me. I held him in a tight embrace as my heart fluttered.
"Umm...I-I," I stammered before clearing my throat and gazing into his eyes. "I love you." I finished, watching the relief and surprise cross over his face. He crashed his lips into mine, kissing me passionately. He slowly pulled away, pressing his forehead against mine and smiled.
"I love you too." he whispered. "Be my girl?" he added. I took that as another chance to kiss him before the security guard impatiently waved him through to the other side. He waved to me from the other side and slowly turned to walk off. I felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders as I realized just who I was dating. Zayn Malik from One Direction.
