It was 1960. Joyce and Jim were getting ready. Jim was in the living room waiting for joyce. He was wearing a tux. He was all fancied up. Like Joyce liked to say.

Joyce walked down stairs with a red dress, and make up on. "Oh my God!" He smiled. She smiled back at him "Look at you" Joyce said while sitting next to him. "Me? Look at you " he smiled. "I look like garbage with make up on" she laughed. "Really? Well you're definitely the prettiest garbage I've ever seen"

"Shut up" she laughed. There thy come again. Butterflies. She felt butterflies in her stomach. He felt butterflies in his stomach. She was perfect and she wasn't his. "Okay, we should go. Diane and your crackhead boyfriend Lonnie."

"He's not a crackhead. Now let's meet Lonnie and your prissy girlfriend" She laughed while going through the door. "Prissy?? What are you? Six?" Jim said while closing the door. Joyce responded by simply sticking out her tongue.

They arrived at the prom. Diane went up to Jim and kissed him. How that made Joyce's blood boil "Woahhh, you look good!" Jim smiled. Joyce awkwardly waved at Diane. They all talked, Diane third wheeling on their conversation until Lonnie came.

"Aw, come on Lonnie. This is the one night that you don't need that much grease in your hair" Joyce complained. "Whatever, Joycie" Lonnie groaned. Jim's blood boiled. Only he called her Joycie. He was such a jerk. Jim thought to himself. Joyce noticed Jim's face, and whispered in Lennie's ear. "Please don't call me that" Lonnie only sighed in response.

After a while of talking in a corner, Diane really wanted to dance and so did Lonnie. Joyce didn't want to dance, but Jim honestly didn't mind it so he went off dancing. Joyce and Lonnie stayed in the corner watching . Look at him, he's so good at dancing. She's so lucky. She's extremely lucky. She watched as he dipped her, and her spine tingled with jealousy.

"That bitch is making him trip" Joyce mumbled, but Lonnie heard clearly. "Aren't you glad I don't make you dance. We'd look as ridiculous as Jim" Lonnie snarked. "I bet if I danced with him, we'd look great" Joyce replied. "Ugh, Joycie-" "Don't call me that" "Joyce. Why don't you just hump him already? It's obvious that you two want to screw each other ever so badly"

"Shut up, Lonnie. I don't want to screw him.  Here, let's dance" Joyce offered, "I'd rather burn alive. I'll be in the back smoking."

Jim noticed Lonnie leaving Joyce. She sat on the floor with a dress on. Jim stopped dancing and went over to Joyce with Diane. "Hey, Horowitz. Where's your boy toy?" Hopper smiled softly. "Out smoking, he'd rather be doing that, than dancing with me." She said as a tear slipped. "Well we can dance together."

"I think a smoke in the parking lot sounds nice" Diane said as she left Jim and Joyce. She was sick of them. They clearly had feelings for each other, they're just to scared to admit it. "Sorry" Joyce said.

"She was making me trip anyways, I'd rather dance with the toughes, smartest, and prettiest girl in town" he said while lifting her up. "I think you missed her, she left about thirty minutes ago" Joyce teased. "Joyce Laura-" Jim slyly smirked as Joyce stopped him while putting her finger on his lips.

She did this as a joke, but they both stared at their eyes at that moment, and it was as if everything was clear. He was her person. She was his person. "Let's dance, Jimmy"

"I think that's a swell idea, Joycie" he swept her away to the dance floor, though they were the two least coordinated there but they still had fun. It was them. It just seemed right.

Joyce wrapped her arms around his neck, as the slow dance came on. "So you think I'm pretty?" She cleverly smirked. "The prettiest.  Fifteen year old me thought it was silly of me to have a crush on my best friend, maybe that's why I've never said it before."

"Well thirteen year old me was ashamed. Because I  swore that I would never have a crush. Then you did that cute thing with Pride and Prejudice, and that promise went down the drain" she said as she blew the strand of hair out of her face.

Jim laughed "I'll never get tired of you blowing your hair out of your face." Joyce laughed "You're such a sap, I'm a sucker for saps" she gave him a peck on the lips.

"Woah. That was a coward of a kiss" he dipped her and kissed her. Sparks. It was fireworks. Fairytale like kiss that made their lives perfect. She broke it off with a fit of giggles. She was happy. He was head over heels. They were both in love.
