"How come you didn't tell me about that party?" I asked Nate as I took a seat beside him on the couch.
Nate was 1 year older than me and worked as a mechanic. He owned his own apartment that needed a lady to look after.

He wasn't the tidiest.
"I wanted it to be a surprise, babe." He started to kiss my neck. It was usually arousing, but not in this case. I don't know if it was the sordid living room or the mysterious party we all agreed to attend. I think it was the latter.

I woke up beside him on the couch. I looked at my watch. 4:25 a.m. I sighed and got up to use the bathroom. It wasn't as messy as I thought it would be. I slipped my shorts off and sat on the toilet. The bright light hurt my dreary eyes, so I hung my head low.
When I got up, I was stunned to see a figure standing in the darkness.
The light could do no justice in recognizing the silhouette.
Fearing to go out there, I stopped at the door. It then raised its hand then waved at me slowly.

I held in the scream as I knew it could be Nate

I held in the scream as I knew it could be Nate. "Stop playing around, you nearly scared me." I warned him.
He stopped waving then opened the door and walked out.

I walked after him, surprised by his actions. He walked steadily down the dark street. "Nate, where are you going?" I shouted.

"Babe," I jumped in fright as I heard him behind me. "I'm right here." I looked around and saw him.
"But... I just saw you leave the house." I stuttered looking him deeply in the eyes.

He laughed and dragged me back on the couch to cuddle.
"I never left." He simply said then dozed off. But I for one, couldn't sleep after what had just happened.
