The chilly mid-winter air burned fiercely in her lungs as scenery blurred. Thoughts began to soften. She didn't know how long she ran for or if she had eaten the night before. But, she knew that if she stopped now. Death will await her and her two month old daughter. She had to get away. Tears threatened as she remembered her mother, father and the life she left behind. She swallowed a sob.
