Chapter 49: Failed Trial?

Hikari's P.O.V
I saw Elizabeth's pained expression and how stressed she looked. Is the pain worth getting her full power back...?
"Elizabeth!!" I shouted with a worried expression and tried to get closer but Zaneri put her hand in front of me.
"This is no time to be worrying about others, focus on yourself." Zaneri spoke seriously as she looked at me with sadness in her eyes.
"R-Right...!" I turned my attention back to Elizabeth who was grunting in pain. I wonder what she's seeing...?
"Don't worry Hikari! Elizabeth will be fine, I guarantee it." Helbram spoke cheerfully as I smiled at him. How can he cheer me up so quickly?
"Zaneri why is Elizabeth in so much pain...?" Meliodas asked softly and looked at Elizabeth with a worried expression.
"Elizabeth is re-living the cruel goodbyes to your 106th reincarnation Meliodas...and everytime she loses control she lays waste to everything. This is a trial to crush her emotions...even after she gets her power back there's a chance she could still lose control! This trial will prevent that." My eyes widened at Zaneri's explanation. That can't happen...Elizabeth cannot lose her emotions!
"Elizabeth..." I muttered to myself and continued to stare at Elizabeth...I hope she'll be alright.

Elizabeth's P.O.V
I looked ahead to see Mel cooking dinner for me...this life with him made me think that the curse would be broken. How wrong I was...now Hikari has to suffer because of me.
"What was with that drill today? It might boost moral but we'll run up the drinking bill and they'll yell at us! Try to rein it in Elizabeth~ Please just once for me~?" Mel smiled and the scenery changed to where I was chasing him in town as Wandle flew near us. His laughter was like music to my ears.
"Wait for me Mel~!" I shouted and tried to grab him and he just continued laughing. I blinked and saw that I was sitting outside of our house with Mel by my side...
"Hey Elizabeth~? Let's stay together forever!" Mel declared with a warm smile on his face. His cheeks were flared red as well.
"Yeah~!" I smiled as well and soon I saw many memories of Mel and I together. I couldn't take it anymore and I screamed as loud as I could.
"Elizabeth...!!" I somehow got out of the trial amd realized the one that had called out to me was Hikari...
