Not requested, just in a Matty Chapstick mood today after seeing a video of him on instagram this morning lol, plus I don't think there's any imagines about him which is crazy to me because I think he's very good looking but that's just me

Y/N was living out her dream as the first woman to be a major league baseball player. She was drafted by the Oakland A's in the first round of the 2017 draft, after playing first base for LSU, and was an immediate starter. She absolutely loved her team, teammates and coaches in Oakland. She could not have ended up in a better place.

The person she was closest to on the team was third basemen, Matt Chapman. They grew closer over the past couple years, and are basically a package deal now. They would never admit it, but they have lowkey feelings for each other. Matt always admired how hard working Y/N was, and how she didn't care what people said or thought about her. She was talented, sweet, funny and absolutely gorgeous. And for Y/N, well, who wouldn't like Matt Chapman. He's the charming third basemen. Pretty much all of their teammates knew they would fall for each other eventually seeing as they spend ever waking minute together, it was just a matter of when.

Being a girl in the MLB certainly had its perks, like being the first girl to do, well, everything. Hit the first home run, hit the first RBI, single, double, triple, you get the picture. However, with the perks comes not so great things. Like getting hit by a pitch intentionally by a pitcher who doesn't think she belongs. This didn't happen often at all, but it did today.

The A's were playing the Seattle Mariners at home, and Y/N was up to bat. The first pitch thrown was straight at her head, luckily, she had quick reflexes, and ducked just in time, falling to the ground. All her teammates stood up in the dugout, and her manager stepped onto the field.

"THAT WAS WAY TOO CLOSE!" Bob Melvin called out to the pitcher and umpire. The umpire turned around and told Melvin to calm down, before kneeling down to make sure Y/N was okay. She said she was fine and got back up. She grabbed her bat and took a deep breathe before stepping back into the box.

The next pitch was in the exact same place, only this time, Y/N's reflexes didn't act quick enough, and she was struck by a 97 MPH baseball straight to the head. It hit her helmet of course, but obviously she could still feel it. Her manager and a few of her teammates, including Matt, stormed out of the dugout. Instead of fighting with the pitcher, Matt immediately went to where Y/N was on the ground, and helped her up.

"Are you okay?" He asked in a hurry. Y/N nodded her head but winced after in pain. "Cmon, let's get you to the medical room." He said as he wrapped his arm around her waist and walked her off the field and down to the locker room. They walked into the teams medical room and Y/N hopped up on a table as she took her batting helmet off. "I will be back in 5 minutes, okay Y/N? I just have to go talk to your manager real quick." The teams doctor said to her and she nodded. She left the room and closed the door behind her, leaving Y/N and Matt in the room alone.

"Can't a girl just play baseball?" Y/N said. Matt looked at her with a sympathetic look. "I mean, I wouldn't be in this situation right now if I was a boy instead of a girl." She sighed. Matt watched as her eyes started to fill up with tears. He hated seeing the girl he cared so much about in pain and upset, especially over the thing she loved the most. He knew all she wanted to do was play baseball, and he felt bad that she had to deal with stuff like this.

"I'll be back." Matt said, and turned around to leave. "Wait" Y/N said, and he turned back around. "Where are you going?" She asked. "To go throw a 97 MPH baseball at that stupid pitchers head." He said in a raised tone. As much as Y/N appreciated him wanting to stand up for her, she did not want Matt getting in trouble and possibly doing something that could get him suspended.

"No Matt please. Don't get yourself in trouble over this, it's not that big of a deal. Who knows, maybe it wasn't intentional." Y/N said. Obviously she knew it was intentional, she just wanted an excuse to keep Matt here with her instead of getting himself in trouble. Matt looked at her with a 'really?' look. "I'm just gonna go talk to him." He said, and started to leave again, but stopped after Y/N grabbed his muscular arm.

"Please." She said. "It's not worth it." He looked at her with his soft brown eyes. "It is worth it" He started. "You're worth it." He said, as he moved closer to her. Y/N could feel her heartbeat speed up as he got closer. "I appreciate you wanting to stand up for me Matt, but we need you on the field, not suspended." She said. "If the suspension means getting to hurt the person who hurt the girl I care about then full send." He said and smiled.

Y/N could feel her cheeks heat up as he said that. Obviously she knew he cared about her, they were great friends, but he seemed to care about her in a different way in this moment. "Don't do anything stupid Chapman." She said and smirked. "Like I said" He started, and moved closer to her again. "You're worth it." He finished, and placed his hands on her waist. He looked at her with eyes as to say 'please let me go beat the shit out of that guy'.

Y/N sighed and said "What will it take for me to keep you here and out of trouble?" Matts' eyes slowly traveled from her eyes, down to her lips, and back up to her eyes. Her heartbeat sped up again, as she knew exactly what he wanted. "Well" She started. "If that's what it'll take." She finished, as she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled his face down to hers. The lips that she had so desperately wanted on hers for the longest time finally were.

They pulled away after a few seconds and looked each other in the eyes. "Okay" He said. "I'll stay." She smiled and pulled him back into her. "Good." She said as they pulled away again. She leaned her head on his shoulder and said "Thank you for staying with me Matt, I really appreciate it." "I'll always be here to make sure you're okay. And if you ever let me, I'll always be here to beat up a pitcher who throws at you. Like I said, you're worth it." He said. She picked her head up off his shoulder and looked at him.

"Are you implying something else here Chappy?" She asked with a grin. "I might be. Only if you're cool with it." He said. She smiled. "Might want to ask our manager first!" She said. Just then, the doctor walked back in the room. "Oh, sorry, am I interrupting?" She asked. They both looked at each other and said 'no' in unison.

"I should probably be getting back anyways. Got a game to finish. I'll see you in a bit, okay?" He said and looked at Y/N. She nodded as he let her go and headed back towards the field. "What was that about?" The doctor asked after Matt left. Y/N smiled. "I think I just got a boyfriend?" She semi asked. And that she did. Dating one of her teammates was risky, but like Matt said, she was worth it.
