Jade didn't sleep well. She startled herself awake when she consciously realized that she was about to roll off her bed and onto the hard wooden floor. Breathing heavily, she rubbed her forehead before getting up. When she reached the Great Hall for breakfast, she groaned when she heard tons of rowdy noises and sniggering.
"Hey Potter! Potter! How's your head? You feeling all right? Sure you're not going berserk on us?" She heard Malfoy's annoying voice call out from the middle of the Slytherin table.
He held up a copy of the Daily Prophet, before Adrian snatched it back with an annoyed look on his face.
And of course, who better to sit next to Adrian than the person she did not want to deal with. Adonis accidentally caught her gaze, and his grin dropped from his face. He looked like he wanted to stand up and walk up to her, but Jade purposely looked away.
She walked to the edge of the Slytherin table, the opposite end of where Adonis, Adrian, and Cassius were sitting.
"Move," she said to the first years, "please." She quickly added when she saw them hesitate a bit.
They made room and she took a seat before digging into breakfast. She could tell there were some people staring at her, perplexed that she wasn't sitting with her usual group. She just wanted to eat and talk as little as possible.
"I need to make a small cheat sheet to read over before the History of Magic exam!" She heard someone nearby say. Jade glanced over to see Millicent Bulstrode, a fourth year that was sitting near Pansy and Draco, rummaging through her bags before taking out a small piece of parchment and a quill.
Oh, right. It's exam day for everyone except the Champions. Jade sighed. Honestly, the Tournament might as well be like an exam since I reviewed so many spells.
"Miss Lin." She snapped her head upward to see Snape towering over her.
"Professor Snape." Jade offered back.
Snape scowled. "The Triwizard Champions are to report to the chamber off the Hall after breakfast." He then looked down at her plate before making eye contact with her again. "Is that clear?"
Jade nodded, muttering a thanks. The Third Task isn't until tonight. Maybe Bagman wants to give some last minute information?
Snape then noticed the younger students around her. "What are you looking at, imbeciles?" He then trudged away.
After finishing her breakfast, she stood up and was about to walk out.
"Hey!" Jade instinctively turned to see Laverna come up to her. "You excited?"
Jade shook her head. "Not really, honestly."
Laverna rolled her eyes. "Dragons, merfolk, and now--"
"A maze." Jade finished. "I hate mazes."
Laverna laughed it off. "Well, on the bright side, you're almost done." When Jade didn't respond, Laverna tilted her head. "You doing okay? I just noticed but you seem... distracted by something."
Jade met her gaze head on. Laverna blinked curiously. I fought with my ex-best friend, who hates Muggleborns. I have a girlfriend, who is a Muggleborn, while also having a friend who is currently dating said ex-best friend, who hates Muggleborns. Story of my life. Jade sighed. A part of her just felt like asking what Laverna saw in Adonis, but then she reminded herself that Adonis had asked the same question to Draco and Pansy about what she saw in Cait. Whether or not Laverna knew about Adonis's stance on Muggleborns, Jade didn't know.
