Jade's eyes suddenly shot open, meeting the empty dark sky. She gasped as she tried to sit up, and then her back hit something stony.
She turned to see that she was leaning on a headstone. The name was too faded out for her to make out. Jade darted her eyes around to examine her surroundings.
A graveyard? This doesn't look like part of the tournament. Jade knitted her eyebrows together. Was the cup a Portkey? If that's the case, where's Potter?
"Robe me." She heard a high, cold voice. It sent shivers down her back, because it sounded exactly like a snake.
She dared to peek out from the tall headstone. Her eyes widened when she saw Harry, tied to another headstone with tight cords. A hooded figure was near him, kneeling before a slender skeletal figure, draped in flowy black robes.
His head was white, and when he turned to face his kneeling servant, Jade could make out slanted red eyes.
She ducked behind the headstone again, her heart racing. Is that... oh Merlin. She didn't understand how it was possible; how Voldemort was standing; alive and well. How long was I unconscious? Did Potter hide me here?
She had never been knocked out cold before. To know that she couldn't recall what had happened a few minutes ago scared her.
"My Lord... my Lord... you promised... you did promise." She heard a choked voice from where everyone else was standing. It probably belonged to the servant.
"Hold out your arm." In contrast to the hissing voice she had heard earlier, his tone was now lazy.
The servant spoke once more. "Oh Master... thank you, Master."
"The other arm, Wormtail."
"Master, please... please..."
Jade cringed from how the servant, Wormtail, sounded. He was practically kissing Voldemort's shoes at this point. What a weird name; it sounds like a rat.
She bit her lip before daring to peek out again. Harry was struggling against the cords, watching the scene unfold in horror as Voldemort pressed a pale finger on Wormtail's left forearm.
"It is back," Voldemort said softly, his scarlet eyes lighting up. "They will all have noticed it... and now, we shall see... now we shall know..."
The Dark Mark. Jade deduced, seeing a black blob on Wormtail's arm. Her gaze landed on Harry, whose face was scrunched up in pain. How am I going to get us out of this mess?
"How many will be brave enough to return when they feel it? And how many will be foolish enough to stay away?"
Jade had to hold back her gasp when she saw Voldemort begin to turn. She ducked behind the headstone again, trying to think of a plan.
Okay, the cup is a Portkey. I need to get Potter out of those ropes, and both of us to the cup. Where is the cup?
She pinched her forehead to concentrate, but it was hard to as she heard cloaks swishing from the air. Wizards were Apparating into the graveyard, their black hoods and eerie masks concealing their faces.
"Master... master..." She heard everywhere.
Taking deep breaths, she was relieved to see that her wand was in her pocket. She hurriedly put a Disillusionment Charm over herself, not excited to be spotted.
