"So," Keefe said. "When are we going to talk about those nice cuts on your arms?"
Sophie froze. Crap. She had forgotten about her cuts, and it didn't help that Edaline had dressed her, she would've chosen a nice hoodie, but instead, she was wearing this short-sleeved shirt that exposed her arms all too well.
What do I do? Play dumb. "What cuts?" What the hell, not that dumb!
Keefe raised an eyebrow. He lifted her arm and pointed at the several red lines of blood. "These cuts,"
You can't tell him. He wouldn't understand, anyway. "From the attack. Remember? I stayed back while you left with Dex. Ruy... h-he started to cut me, he was trying to... to get me to be a double agent, so he, uh, threatened me."
Keefe seemed convinced. I guess he assumed her stuttering was from trauma. If he was human, she would have been caught in her lie for sure, but elves... they don't understand self-harm, it was nonexistent. They couldn't identify it if it were right under their noses. Which, it was, through Sophie, that is.
"How are you feeling?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, about Dex-"
"Oh," Sophie said. "I... I don't know how to feel, really." She laughed coldly to herself. "I mean, my best friend died-"
"I thought I was your best friend." Keefe interrupted, clearly not thinking.
"I-" Sophie stuttered, aghast. "I can't believe you just said that."
"Sophie, I was jok-"
"You know, I don't freaking care if you were joking," Sophie yelled.
"I'm sorry, I was just-"
"GET OUT,"
"Sophie, I was just trying to make you smile, I know it wasn't funny, but-"
Sophie groaned. "I swear to God, Keefe, if you don't get out right now, you'll regret it."
"Sophie-"
Sophie had it. She knew she was overreacting, but at that moment, she didn't care. She didn't care about him, about the consequences of what she was about to do. She just wanted to be alone and for the aching in her heart to stop. She wanted him to feel what she was feeling, so sad that she could break. She gathered all of her sad and depressing thoughts and inflicted it on him.
Instantly, tears poured from his eyes, and he collapsed on the floor, a mess. Sophie realized what she was doing as she looked at his broken state and stopped, as he let out a gasp. He looked up at her, his cheeks stained with tears and his hurt expression saying everything.
"Keefe, I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me..." Sophie said, shocked over what she had done.
Keefe got up and ran out of her room.
"Shit,"
Oof Sophie messed up. I've always thought about Sophie possibly getting so emotional that she would inflict on her friends, and now Keefe's going to be mad at her for a while.

That's two updates in one day, don't get used to this update schedule... In a few days, I'll be leaving for vacation for about two weeks, so I can't post. But later, hopefully, I'll still feel inspired. And I can write a little bit so that I can post as soon as I get back and have some drafts ready.
