Chapter One - The New Beginning

Since the beginning of time eight people have been chosen to possess the powers of the elements. Water. Air. Earth. Fire. To be quite honest with you I would not have believed you if you said that to me. People actually have powers? I did not think it was true and I would always tell my mom that she should not have believed in those stories. That's until she died and the powers passed down to me. My name is Kang Moon Soo and I am one of the eight. I possess the power of water and I have had this ability since my mother passed away when I was eleven years old.

My mother told me we had to keep the balance of this planet. Without us the Earth would not exist, but she also told me that without me she would not exist. She as in the other person with the gift of water, the other person who holds the same gift I do. I do not know how she looks like or if I will ever meet her, but I know she is out there. She has to be. A female and a male are always the ones who are chosen; I wonder what happened to my dad that night. Is that why my mom died? Or did he die because my mom died? It has never been clear to me. Why was my mom chosen? How could she give my dad's powers to me? I've thought about this from the moment I could remember. Life really wasn't clear and no one is here to explain anything to me. You see I have been hunted down for years.

There is a group called The Cosmos and they know we eight exist. They hunt us down; their hope is that the Earth will come to an end if we all die. If we fail to pass down our powers their mission and their hope becomes a reality. So I have been on the run and have tried to live as much of a normal life that I can. However, as soon as I think that I am free they find me. They try to kill me. So I never stop, I never stay in one place for a long time, I don't have friends because I don't know whom to trust, and I don't have a home. If the other seven really do exist, if by chance they are still alive I hope that they are not discovered by The Cosmos. I do know that this tires me out more than I would wish for. My powers are weak and if what my mom said was true then I have to find her.

"Kang Soo, only with her will you be at your full potential." Her last words weren't I love you or be safe they were that. That alone. If she used her last breath to say that then it must have been important. But where can she be?

"Who are you?" I said as I saw a man on the street covered in blood. When I was nine years old a man approached me when I was playing with my friends. He looked at me and even if he looked liked he was hurt he smiled.

"What's your name?" he said to me. His voice was raspy and you could tell that he was weak.

"Ji Soo Ah." He took off a ring with an aquamarine stone and gave it to me.

"Ji Soo Ah keep this safe." He stared at me for a while, "I don't have much time to explain. They've found me, but promise me no matter what you do please keep this with you. It holds magical powers." With that he ran as fast as he could away from me. This was odd as you can tell, but it was the start of my new life. A life I did not ask for, but was given anyway. My name is Ji Soo Ah. I possess the power of water. That night I took the ring home. I stared at it and wondered how an ordinary ring could mean anything. I put it on and the band got smaller and it glowed. It felt odd, but the power was now in my body. I noticed I had the power of water the next morning when it rained and I was able to control it. A nine-year-old controlling rain I don't think it gets crazier than that. But I was wrong. Things weren't tough then, they're harder now. Now I am in the public eye all the time, I am one of the top celebrities in Korea. I feel like someone is watching me, but I don't know what will happen.

"Ji Soo Ah. Hello?" my manager, Lim Si Woo, waved his hand in front of my face. "You're always day dreaming." He rolled his eyes and laughed. He continued talking to me about my next tour. "So your body guard quit. You need a new one fast."
