Army x childhood! reader

This is by far my longest one shot. I hope you enjoy it you army lovers~

L/r = love rival

"[Y/n]! How was practice?" You heard a friendly voice say. "It was okay, when we told [f/n] to get us some drinks they spilled it all over the floor and all of us had to clean it up." You explain. Army just let's out a small scuff. Army blushes lightly and asks you a question. "Hey [y/n], there's an event coming up at the end of the week. I was wondering if you'd like to attend it with me?" You looked at him and gave him an awkward smile. "U-um, actually [l/r] already asked to go with them" you tell him. He completely froze "w-wHAT?!" He suddenly yelled out. "Yeah, he asked me first and I said yes." You said. "I-its not a date is it?" He asked. "No? Why are you so paranoid?" You asked. "N-nothing! I have to go! Bye!" He said quickly and fled the scene leaving you clueless in the middle of the square.

Army was in his house pondering about his situation. "What do I do? What do I do?" He asked himself repeatedly. Unknown to you is that army had feelings for you since the two of you where squidlets. He never told you how he felt, and that week might be his last chance to confess his feelings to you before you get taken by some random squid he didn't know. He took out his journal and began writing down all things that you loved and even wrote down some comments on your appearance and personality. "I didn't expect that the squid i grew up with would turn out so beautiful." "Every time I'm around her my day becomes brighter, when she leaves everything gets so dark" "I can't help but to smile when she's around". He came up with the plan, taking you to all your favorite places and buying you sweets and gifts. He knew that you loved nothing more than sweets. He had planed out the entire week. He went to sleep early to be ready for the entire wild week he was about to have.

It was now an early morning. You had slept in the couch because you binge watched your favorite show last night. You get a text from army. " excuse me [y/n], are you perhaps free this week?" You looked at your phone and squinted your eyes. You type back with "uuuuhhhhh I should be lemme check my calendar" so then you check your calendar. "It doesn't seem like it, you have plans?" You text. "Yes I do, I wanted to know if you'd like to join me" he texted. "Oh cool I get to spend time with my best friend" you thought and replied. "Sure y not? Where are we going?" "Wahoo world" he texted. It seemed strange, Army wasn't the type to want to have fun in a place like that. Though you loved going to Wahoo world. All the thrill and sweets your little squid heart could decisire.

Day 1

Army and you meet up by the park's entrance. As soon and you walk in your senses begin to fill up. The smell of popcorn and hotdogs, the laughs and screams of joy and the bright colorful carnival games. Army seemed disturbed by all the chaos going on, but he quickly composed himself when he saw the worry on your face. "Every thing okay?" You ask. He nodded and gave you smile. You smiled back. When you spotted your favorite ride you grabbed army's arm and run towards your favorite ride. The two of you get in line. Army was happy with how exited you where. When you and army got on you asked "have you been on this one before?' He shook his head and said "I haven't been on this particular ride" after the ride you and army where walking around the park and see your favorite character plushie. It was on one of those impossible bottle challenges that you need to land hoops on the neck of the bottle 3 times in a row. Army saw your desire to get the plushie so he asked for 3 tries. The first three he saw how it worked. The next 3 he missed the last one. The third he won! He handed you the plushie and you smiled. After a while of you get tired of carrying the giant plushie. Army said "[y/n], you getting tired? I'll carry the the plushie for you" you replied "really? Thank you!" And handed him the plushie. He carried the plushie the rest of the day. Soon came time that you and army had to go home. "Thanks for today" you told him.
