Evening drew in close and the sky was lit up in a array of pinks and oranges as the sun began to slip down past the fields. A young brunette woman stood beside her large curved window, watching the sun start to introduce us to the moon.
She stood slightly behind her drapes, hiding away for anyone who could pass by and glance up.
She wanted to be alone. Completely and utterly alone for the first time on what felt like centuries.
She wished she could go home. Her real home. The place her family resided, or what was left of them anyway. She wanted to belong somewhere again.
she and her sister were drifters, constantly on the move -traveling. But this young woman wanted nothing more than to be able to settle down and finally be happy.
'knock, knock.'
The young woman ignored the door and continued to gaze longingly out her window.
She could feel the persons presence standing just on the other side of the door, and it was distracting.
"Enter." She called out.
She heard the door click open and someone step inside behind her, the door again clicking and creaking and it was pushed shut.
"What is it you require, Stefan?" She asked, her tone icy.
Stefan's footsteps faltered as he approached her. "I came to apologize on my brothers behalf."
The young woman spun around on her heels to face him, a frown adorning her features. "An apology means nothing when by spoken by another, Stefan. If he would sincerely like to apologize personally, he knows where my sleeping quarters are."
Stefan looked down at her words, his hand moving to scratch absentmindedly at his chin. "I understand that you're pained by his choice of wording, but i can assure you nothing he said was meant for you."
The brunette chuckled darkly and shook her head from side to side. "What makes you so strongly believe that? Because I know that the majority of what he said was aimed specifically for me," She looked up into Stefan's eyes, and he could not deny the pain that dwelled deep within. "And that's what's tearing me apart the most, Stefan." She whispered out. "I trusted him with my secrets...With me." Her eyes began to glisten with un-shed tears. "And he told everyone, so easily." She cocked her head to the side and Stefan watched her. "Does you brother feel anything, Stefan? Anything at all? Because I thought he did, I thought he felt something for me. Something...More than this betrayal."
The young woman took a step closer to Stefan and her lips began to tremble as she held back her tears. "Do you love your brother, Stefan?" She asked, almost silently.
Stefan was confused by the question but answered nonetheless. "Of course."
"Could you ever hate your brother?"
"No." The answer was said all too quickly, but the sad young women couldn't feel it in her to question him.
"I wish I lived in the same kind of world that you did, Stefan." She admitted. " I wish I had that kind of relationship with my sister..But I do not, and I severely doubt I ever will."
Tears burned painfully at her eyes, she could not bare to hold them back any longer, so instead let them flow steadily down her cheeks. She turned back to the window. Seeing nothing but the black blueness of the night sky, and the beautifully lit up stars glowing down on her.
The moonlight filtered in through her large arched window, illuminating and emphasizing her every feature.
She was beautiful. There was no other word to describe her, no other word, Stefan wanted to describe her. His heartbeat stuttered at the view. His eyes had never once witnessed something so magnificent... So elegantly serene, in his life.
