Chapter 5: Not an Ounce of Trust

Ye Mo put down his axe and stared at Liu Duo, seemingly her to try and run!
To Ye Mo's childish behavior and words, Liu Duo rolled her eyes and went back to her room, too lazy to talk. Her impression of Ye Mo was much worse.
Ye Mo was so angry with Liu Duo, his chest heaving up and down.
"Fourth Brother, you better not spoil her. You have to be firm and show her who’s in charge, or else she'll take off!"
"I know, third brother. I’ll look after her. She knows we treated her well, she won’t run away again." Ye Ling persuaded his third brother.
"I know, but when it’s time to be fierce, it’s time to be fierce, or she won’t know her place!" Picking up the axe, Ye Mo began to chop firewood.
Ye Ling began putting clean dishes back in the kitchen.
Liu Duo lay in bed, thinking about her identity as a wife.
The wealthy will take multiple wives and concubines, and in some places, when the family is particularly poor, they’ll take on young brides. To put it bluntly, it’s solely to buy a wife to give birth to children that will carry on the family line.
She was plagued with disease in her previous life, and thus had never had a man. Now, God gave her a new life. Not only a healthy body, but also four men. It could be called a lucky turnout for her!
But who says that only men can take multiple wives and concubines? She’ll have four legal husbands given her by God. She’ll be happy!
With the sound of chopping firewood for a backdrop, she drifted off to sleep again.
After an hour or two, Liu Duo got out of bed. She took a menstrual cloth prepared by San Nainai, ready to go to the shacks to replace it.
The two brothers were preparing dinner in the kitchen. One tending the fire while the other cooked.
Liu Duo opened the thatch door and walked in.
Hearing the door opening, Ye Mo quickly went out to check the courtyard. After checking Liu Duo’s room and having no luck anywhere, he rushed back to the courtyard.
Looking around outside the courtyard, he couldn’t see anyone. As Ye Mo ran, he saw Liu Duo step out of the shack.
"Ah!" the fiery Ye Mo startled her.
She patted her chest and stared at Ye Mo: "You scared me half to death!"
"You..." Seeing Liu Duo coming out of the shack, Ye Mo embarrassed himself for a moment, thinking that Liu Duo had run away again.
"What’re you doing running around like you’re burning alive!? People will think you’ve gone crazy in the head!" Liu Duo said, rolling her eyes, taking along her used pad to the well for cleaning.
She didn’t want anything to do Ye Mo right now. While it’s true she did run once, he actually didn't have an ounce of trust in her!
Seeing Liu Duo condemn him without the least bit of a guilty conscience, Ye Mo was livid.
"Who’re you calling crazy!? What basis do you have for that!?"
"Get lost! You’re in the wrong for scaring me, yet you can’t even admit it... Do I need to make a grand announcement every time I need to step out to the outhouse?"
Li Duo took her attention off Ye Mo, and took a rope bucket and threw it into the well, but couldn’t get any water. Even after several tries, still no luck. Oh how she missed that well water now!
"Fourth brother, come out for a while."
These menstrual cloths needed to be changed, washed, and sewn up with charcoal powder. She was definitely going to miss disposable tampons.
