Eliza detransformed in a alleyway, still holding her cheek from the slap, and went back into the apartment building. Time had passed very quickly. It was already nearly time for the girls to be home from school. Eliza was going to be much relieved when she saw her children.

Eliza opened the door to the apartment, locking the door and windows before she went to the front of the apartment, which was the kitchen. Eliza noticed a note on the counter that she was sure hadn't been there earlier.  Eliza warily made her way over to the note.

"Dear Mrs. Bushnell,

or should I call you La Peon?

Your daughters have been taken. They will not be harmed...physically, at least. Come to this address before their school ends for the day, or all the things you have been hiding from your poor children will be revealed.

     The clock is ticking...

                            -LM"

Eliza gasped. This couldn't be happening. Not today. Not after all that had just occurred. She spared a glance at the clock. It was almost time, and the address was so far away. Eliza wasted no time, transforming quickly, and unlocking the window to get out.

This was all her fault for letting them walk alone to school today. It should be her in danger right now, not them. Not her daughters who had never done anything wrong.

La Peon raced to get to the building on time, praying that she would be on time.

John walked in the apartment, taking in it's messy state. He wandered over to pick up a piece of paper dropped from the counter. He turned it over and read.

"Oh god" John whispered in shock. Eliza must have come in and read it, then raced out to get to the place on time.

"If they find out everything....oh no...Eliza can't take another heartbreak.." John realized. He transformed, and jumped out the open window, needing to go either help Eliza, or save her from despair.

La Peon made it to the address. She burst inside. It was dark, but she could hear laughter coming  a few feet across from her.

"Oh, you tried. I'll give you that, but your to late!" The stranger giggled. La Peon looked at the time. She had been 10 minutes to late. She inwardly cursed herself.

"What did you do to them?" La Peon asked, voice trembling. The stranger laughed.

"Just told them the truth about their parents, and their other lives." The stranger said, her voice sounding tense. La Peon felt faint as a few lights lit up a part of the room where her children were reading something with shocked looks on their faces.

"No....no, no no! this cannot be happening" La Peon whispered, shaking. The stranger came a little bit into the light, just enough to where Peon could see her grin. Regina looked the most shocked, and looked at La Peon as if she had just realized she was in the room.

"Mom...?!" Regina whispered. There was a hurt in her eyes that made La Peon wince.

"You can have them back,  Peon. I've done all I needed to do" The stranger remarked. La Peon trembled.

At that moment, Tigre opened the door cautiously, and slid in, holding the note. La Peon didn't even care at this moment. All she noticed was the hurt, sadness, betrayal, and anger in her daughters eyes that was directed at her.

Tigre, being the only one who wasn't shaking badly, or showing much emotion, herded his family outside, and only let go when they got to the apartment complex.

"Mom...Dad....I cannot believe that....you held this from us! We would have kept it a secret! We could have even helped you out, but we didn't know because you didn't tell us." Heather spoke, anger flashing in her eyes.

"Heather-" A now detransformed Eliza tried to speak, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Don't." Heather said sharply. She and her sister went to their bedroom, and locked the door. Eliza winced at the slam of the door. John turned to Eliza, remembering what he had whispered to himself earlier.

Eliza let out a sob, and John hugged her. Not caring anymore, Eliza allowed herself to sob into his embrace, pouring all her grief out. John had never seen Eliza this grieved, and allowed himself a few tears for her and what she must be going through.

From now on, Heather and Regina didn't speak to their parents. They ignored them, and it hurt.

Eliza had, for the moment, relied on John, and therefore forgave him. She tried to forget what he had done, but failed at that a lot. All of this grief and despair that John had been unable to protect Eliza from resulted in her becoming depressed.

John worried so much for Eliza, and made himself always there for her. He never left unless it was with Eliza, because he was afraid of what she might do to herself if he wasn't there to stop her.

At least he had forgiveness, and the strength to save Eliza from herself.
