I cover my mouth, holding my breath as Seán continued, "(Y/n), I love you. Will you be my partner and move with me to Ireland?"
Mark, Seán, Ethan, and I had taken the time to grab dinner after each of the individuals had finished with their panels and signings. Seán had never taken his sight off of me however. He was ecstatic about the move and moreover, the fact I could hear him.
As we sat at the table the guys had talked about future games and skits they were planning. I ate my food silently as I listened to the chatter of the diner, still adjusting to the new sounds.
Ethan chimed in eventually, taking into account of how quiet I was. "'So, how is the hearing world to you?"' All three boys looked at me smiling.
I smile giving them a thumbs up. 'Its great. Loud but I like it.'
Ethan nodded, '"I wasn't sure what you two were planning the past year.'' He said gesturing to Mark and I. "'The speech therapy came out of no where."'
"'It was.. supposed to be a surprise.."' Mark shrugged biting into his food. "'I didn't know they'd practice on you."'
"'I was nice practice.. right?"' Ethan looks over to me to be reassured. I nod laughing at the two. Seán however wraps his arm around me. "'What made you change your mind about the implant?'"
I bite my lip and glanced over at Mark. Placing my hands below the table to where only Mark can see it I signed to him, ' Can I tell him?'
Mark glanced at the sign, signing back no, he would.
I looked back to a confused Seán and smiled. 'Its best if it comes from your friend..'
Seán looked up and between the two that sat across from us.Ethan was still munching on his food and scrolling on his phone, however Mark raised his hand just enough for Seán to acknowledge it.
"I told them." Mark began. '"I told them about.. the incident.."'
Seán slowly pulled his arm away from my shoulder, The look on his face wasn't like the look from the bar. This was like guilt or heartbreak.
"Mark.. why?"
"They asked and I already felt bad about the fight at bar." Mark said welting up. "S-So they suggested-"
Seán looked to me and I smiled anxiously back at him. "' Is this true?"'
I nodded looking back to Mark. 'Mark felt so bad about what happened and I thought this could help..'
Sean scoffed sitting back in the booth. "I can't believe it."
I turn back to Mark who had sat back in his booth, holding back his tears. Frustrated, I turn back to Sean.
"How dare you" I slowly started, hoping to get through to Seán. Seán looked over at me confused.
Ethan was now paying attention passing glances between the three of us.
"Mark helped me as much as he could so I could hear you. He paid for everything and more just to earn the right to your friendship."
Seán opened his mouth to interject but I interrupted one last time. "And now you treat him like he really did die."
Seán sat there stumped, his mouth ajar staring over at Mark who gave him a hurt gaze.
"Mark.. Fuck." He set his head on the table, pushing back his food. "I really fucked this up.."
Mark slid out of the booth, "'Can I?" Mark asked as he pointed to my seat. I nodded as I slid out of mine, swapping seats with Mark.
Mark sat next to Sean talking to him in a low voice to comfort him. Ethan scooted towards me, tapping my shoulder, 'What happened..?'
'They'll talk about it when they're ready,' I said smiling, looking across at the new friends.
Sean raised his head to hug Mark, the two holding each other close as if they were afraid to let go.
---
After everything was patched up and PAX had finished up, Mark and Ethan had flown with me to help me pack. Seán had flown back to Ireland to clean up and get everything ready for me.
Much of my furniture was taken by the two since I wasn't taken much back to Ireland. Mark had offered to help me board the plane and ride with me there but I denied it.
Before I left, Mark thanked me. He gave me a tight hug that made the air escape my lungs. after he let go, I kissed his cheek in a friendly way and thanked him back.
I boarded the plane with my bags filled with all my clothes and necessities, flying for what seemed like eternity.
Once I arrived to the rainiest place I would ever be in, I hopped of the plane ready to start a new page in my life.
Walking through the boarding gate I saw the familiar face.
I ran towards Seán, dropping any luggage so I could embrace him.I can't wait to start my life with Seán.
