Mirari. That's all I know. I have the very faintest of memories that if anyone asks me who I am, it's Mirari but even that is fading as I start to live my life in the mansion of Vaude.
I have been living in the mansion for about two years now. There was so much to do, I'm always moving. Mostly I help out with the housekeeping, sweeping, laundry and dusting. Not that I'm complaining or anything, this is my way of repaying the kind maiden who saved me from the snow.
"Mirari! Can you please come over here?" Mina called from down the hallway.
"Coming," I slid into a room where broken bits of a vase laid on a pillar. Not exactly broken, I observed, they looked to be cleanly cut off instead of carelessly smashed.
"Spacial Magic," Mina explained. "This vase was caught up in it and Lord Vaude said you can practice your time magic to see if you can restore it,"
"But it's broken, and I have no idea where the other pieces are," I protested. "What if I can't fix it?"
"Master Vaude has already ordered a new vase to be made and this one can be spared for you,"
"Okay," I held up my hand, surrounding the fragments in a blue sphere. The broken bits picked themselves up and neatly rearranged themselves back in the shape of a vase. A few moments later, the vase is mostly restored beside the huge chuck of missing pottery. There was a small crack, then another and the whole vase fell apart once more.
"It seems like the pieces need to be present in order to be restored," Mina mummered, half to herself.
"Does that mean it's ruined?" I asked.
"No, you still need to work on your magic. You can keep the shards for trying on later. Just remember, matter can only be affected by magic limited times before it starts to get fragile," Mina carefully swept the vase into a leather bag.
"Thanks," I took the bag and quickly went to my room and shoved the bag into a drawer beside my bed.
Mina seemed to be studying me after I returned, from my height to my face shape. "I think it's about time you have matured enough to meet Young Masters Finral and Langris,"
"I already know them," I blurted automatically. Finral was the boy who was staring at me when I was first found.
"Well, of course, you've seen them. But you've never really had a conversation with them. You ought to start having friends around now don't you think?"
"What's wrong with you and the other maids?"
"There should be some friends your own age. I'll go talk to Master Vaude and see if I can arrange a time for you guys together,"
I felt unsure about that idea. Friends...what a new thing to have.
