CHAPTER FIVE - COMMITMENT

''I saw a monster mommy. He ate me.'' The young boy cried, and his mother gave him a huge hug.

''Do you want daddy to go up with you?'' The boy nodded and Rebecca turned away and looked at a deep red-haired guy who was standing next to Carter.

''Tyler!'' The man sighed and came over along with Carter, the girl and another lad.

''He had a nightmare. How about being a great father and put him to bed.'' Tyler gave her evils.

''Bu-'' Rebecca cut him short.

''Of course, you will won't you babe!'' Her strength made everyone giggle.

''Okay, you win.'' He gave in and picked him up and travelled up the stairs.

''Your true colours Bec.'' Kayla laughed.

''He asked for that, he is always out with your asses doing missions.'' She gave Carter a dirty looked then grinned.

''All part of the business.'' Carter let out a small laugh.

''Your son?'' Nicole asked, Rebecca gave out a nod.

''Yeah had him at 19, unexpected however the best day of my life was having him.'' Rebecca blushed. Nicole's gaze reached Carters, who was scanning her from head to toe.

''He's cute.'' Nicole took her eyes off of Carter and looked at Rebecca.

''His name is Tommy, my mother kicked me out after I had him, and Tyler took me in and that's how I joined the so-called business.'' Rebecca rolled her eyes. And now I'm stuck with him. ''He filled me in about all the crap these guys do, and he promised he would protect me, and he has kept his word.'' Bec smiled and took a sip of her drink.

''Poor twat.'' Carter said and let out a laugh. The girl beside him still clinging onto his arm nudged him playfully making Nicole's blood boil.

''I know, he's stuck with me.'' Bec burst out in laughter.

''Don't worry brother, when you have a kid, I'll make sure that he or she makes your life hell.'' Kayla burst out in laughter making Nicole giggle.

''Who said I'm ever having a kid?!'' His reaction made everyone laugh.

''Like Bec said it was unpredicted, who knows... Rene could be pregnant right now.'' Kayla loves playing tricks with Carter. He looked at the girl beside him with uncertainty.

''Don't worry sister, you might get pregnant first. After that you got to figure out who the father is.'' Carter let out a devilish smirk with his other hand on his waist.

''I know brother, I know it takes a while to figure out who you really are... Fuckboy!'' Kayla pointed her figure and Carter. Nicole let out a giggle and looked at Zara who just sat there sipping her wine.

''Is it that easy to tell.'' He winked at Nicole.

''Fuc-'' A determined cough was let out behind them. A woman in her mid-40's was standing behind them with her arms crossed.

''I hope you're not planning on finishing that sentence Kayla Marie Santino?'' She raised an eyebrow and looked into her eye's.

''Of course, not... He started it!'' The woman moves toward Nicole, her long grey dress dragging along the floor.

''You look just like your mother, Nicole.'' Nicole was in shock, her body slowly trembling.

''Let's give them so space.'' Zara guided everyone away from them, and into the kitchen.

''You knew my Mother, Darci Perez?'' Nicole's voice shaky and quiet.

''Yes, I went to collage with her. After she found out she was pregnant with you, your poor excuse for a father took her away.'' She tried to avoid eye contact.

''Is she...alive Mrs. Santino?'' A tear fell from Nicole's cheek and she slowly wiped it away.

''I never saw her again. Please call me Eva.'' She said politely. ''She wrote a letter to me after she had you...''

''What did it say?'' Nicole asked.

''She wanted me to take you, bring you here and welcome you into this family... My husband thought it was a bad idea. We tried to find you, but your father already took you away.'' Eva's eyes were watery. She looked at the floor.

''I- I...'' Nicole was speechless. Eva handed an old letter to Nicole he hands quaking.

''Was he kind? Your father... did he treat you right?'' Nicole looked up and answered without crying.

''He tried his best...'' Eva gasped.

''He didn't, did he.'' Eva looked deeply into Nicole's eyes. ''What did he do to you?'' Nicole tried so hard not to cry.

''Things that no one should ever go through.'' Nicole's head dropped.

''Has he hit you?'' Eva was certain of the answers. Nicole nodded and then another tear fell.

''Did he...'' Nicole felt weights being lifted from her shoulders.

''No... He got other people to...'' Eva gasped and pulled her in for a hug. A tear escaped Eva's eyes.

''No one and I mean no one should ever go through that! You are family now. The scars and bruises you hide; they won't be added to. Trust me.'' Eva pulled away and wiped the tears from Nicole's face. He held out her arm and Nicole wrapped her arm around Eva's.

''Thank you.'' Nicole whispered.

''No need to thank me.'' Eva smiled. They headed towards the kitchen and smelt the roast dinner cooking by the professionals. Nicole let go and hugged Eva one last time before going to Kayla and the group.

''You okay?'' Zara asked, all Nicole could do was nod she looked up and admired Carter who was doing the same thing.

''I'll be right back.'' Nicole stepped away and headed for the back doors which led to a staircase down to the garden, the stairs were filled with fairy lights and flowers, the view of the garden blew Nicole away. She sat down on the first step after opening the delicate glass door. She looked deep into the sky and the moon that peaked from behind the trees and looked up at the shimmering stars above. The door opened up again and it was the girl that hung onto Carters arm like a dog on a lead. She sat down on beside Nicole, opening up her bag and checking her makeup out.
