disclaimer, I hope I am not offending anyone with the title of this story. The word rags usually tend to have a "struggling" connotation to it so that's more or so what I was getting across. In no way am I mocking anyone, it's only a play of words. With that being said, please enjoy the first official chapter of my new book :)

anddd I will also be adding more songs to the soundtrack!

Song of the Chapter : Wait a Minute! - Willow

"How much longer is this gonna take? I have an audition and I need to be there in an hour and a half and you know the LA traffic is terrible." Donovan paces up and down the seemingly tidy kitchen. His hands run through the curly tufts of his chestnut colored hair.

"Oh hush up." Zenica laughs at his frantic actions, "This wouldn't be an issue if you didn't keep us up all night helping you read lines." Her eyes practically light up as she watches her friend in amusement.

"But we were waiting for you Zeni and you took longer on that date than expected so who's fault is it?" Audrey calls her out as she stands next to me, garnishing the shiny plates.

"Audrey, we have no time for that pretty shit. Just slap it on the plate, it's going in my mouth anyways!" The curly headed boy continues to walk back and forth with no intentions to calm down.

"Guys, if you don't shut up, I will stop all together. Donovan, sit down, your pacing won't speed up my cooking. Zeni, stop making fun of him, he'll purposely take longer in the bathroom and Audrey, I love what you're doing with the garnishes."

The room grows quiet as the three of them shuffle behind me. A triumph smile appears on my face as I quickly top the neatly decorated plates with the food I have been cooking for an hour now.

Audrey follows right behind me as I take two plates to the table that's just right next to the kitchen. Donovan sighs in relief and immediately begins to dig into the plate in front of him.

"I swear it gets better after each bite." Donovan exclaims while he forcefully shoved the pancakes down his throat. I hurriedly walk over to him, resting my arms in his shoulders, "Alright Don, calm down. I don't want to have to perform Heimlich on you." He gradually grows slower in pace and I give him a quick hug before proceeding to eat my food.

"Okay, so rent is due in exactly three days and shifts at the bar have been pretty slow. We're still about a thousand short." Audrey brings up the topic that we all dread in the beginning of the month. Our eyes dart between the four of us as we causally eat our food.

"I didn't make much from the bar but I got quite the tips from waitressing the other day." Zeni chirps accompanied with a bright smile on her naturally tan face. "$437 to be exact."

Audrey quietly sighs, "Well Donny, have you figured something out?"

The guy who was bouncing off the walls not even five minutes ago seemed to be at a complete loss for words and kept his movement to a minimum.

"It's getting really hard to get casted. You guys know that I cut my shifts at the bar so I could get into more auditions." Donovan quietly spoke while playing with the leftover pancakes on his messy plate. "It's okay, what about you Miella?"

I shrug. Not only was I juggling three jobs but I had to find a way to financially provide for my family and friends. "Look, I picked up as much shifts at the bar which totaled to $619. But my brother needs medicine and if we want to eat next week, it's one or the other."
