Paris in the Rain - Lauv

"You're really about to hang out with a guy that treats you like shit?" Donovan rolls his eyes at me while I rummage through my closet. I knew he would feel some type of way mainly because I have expressed to him before that the words that come from Jeff hurt sometimes. "I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt." I tell him.

I've known Donovan for majority of my life, growing up as neighbors and close family friends. The main reason as to why my parents were okay with me moving cross country was because I would be with him. Despite the fact that he's had a crush on me since we first met, it never got in the way of our friendship.

"Does this cycle not get tiring?" He asks me while I change out of my house clothes and into some jeans and some white sweater. "You act like I'm about to date this guy. We're just going out as friends."

"Miella you're smart enough to know that this progressively turns into something more. It happened wi..."

I immediately cut him off, "Don't you even start." I glare at him after I throw my sweater over my head and through my arms. "You're so stubborn Miella." When I look over at him, he's turned towards the wall on his phone. My phone vibrates on top of my pillow and I walk over to see that Jeff has texted me.

Jeff
Be there in ten 😇

A wave of anxiety washed over me and my palms slowly began to get clammy as I realized that this was be the first time Jeff and I have willingly been alone for longer than 30 minutes. When I look back at Donovan, his eyes linger up and down my body.

"Are you done being mad at me?" I ask walking over to his bed and laying on top of him. His arms wrap around my body, while I lay my head on his chest. The way his soft, hands trail up and down the small of my back as he buries his head in my neck made me feel warm all over. "These guys here don't deserve you Miella."

We lay there a few more minutes before my phone goes off once again. Donovan loudly groans before tightening his grip around me, "Just stay here with me. We haven't had quality bestfriend time."

I attempt to get out of his tight grasp, "We can after I get back." I reassure him as he loosens his grip around me. There was a big pout on his face and I collect my phone and wallet. Donovan gets up from the and follows me toward the door.

Jeff stood behind the door, a small grin on his face. He was wearing a plain white shirt and black pants, his hair falling to the side. Donovan pulls me into a hug in attempts to make him jealous, "Have her back in one piece, Wittek." He eyes him up and down before letting me go.

"Don't worry man, I got you. I'll take care of her." He winks at me. "Don't wink at her." Donovan rolls his eyes before shutting the door on the two of us. Jeff throws his arms in defense before placing his hand on the small of back, that sent waves of electricity down my spine, and lead me to where I presumed his car to be.

"So," I ask, "Where are we going?"

"You'll see Ellie, patience." He smirks.
