"Aye Ant pass me dat shit." I nodded my head taking one last pull before passing it.

"Man I'm not ready for school to start." Eric kissed his teeth.

"Me either." I shook my head.

"What chu mean you either, you barely be in class as it is." Rashad laughed grabbing the blunt from Eric.

"Man whatever I do my work."

"Correction you get those females to do your work."

"Aye the job gets done doesn't it." I shrugged.

"Mhm."

"Y'all blowing my high talking bout school we'll get to that day when we get to it right now I'm just tryin to enjoy my summer. But ima let y'all
lames go...I'm out!" I made my way out of our chillin spot heading home.

I slid my earphones from around my neck onto my ears as I pressed play on my Walkman as Zapp & Roger played.

A few people I knew stood around talking amongst each other doing their own thing as I walked down the street.

"Hey Ant." A thick brown skin  girl smiled showing her pearly white smile I remembered seeing her around school.

I watched as her hips swayed as she walked ahead of me. "Aye come me're." I shouted gaining her attention as she turned back.

"What?" She asked trying to hide her smile as I got closer to her.

"You going to Q's house party Saturday night?"

"Maybe." She said folded her arms across her chest shifting her weight from one leg to the other. "Why?"

I bit at my bottom lip looking her into her eyes as she blushed looking away I reached out for her caressing her arm. "Cause I was hoping I would get the chance to dance with you."

I smirked as she blushed looking at the ground. "Yeah, maybe... I'll be there."

"Ight. I'll see you tomorrow night then."

"Okay." She said quickly before walking away.

I began walking backwards watching her booty jiggle as she walked away. "Aye hurry home, it's to dark out here for you to be walking alone."

"I live right here." She pointed  at building in front of her. Nodding my head I turned back the other way continuing my walk.

I softly hummed along to the music that played. Music was everything to me that's all I Knew being that my mother was a singer and always played music. No one but god and my mama knew I sing and that's how I plan to keep it.

I made it to the front door of our raggedy ass apartment building jogging up the stairs covering my nose from the pee and cigarette scent hallway. I patted myself  down remembering I had forgot my key on my nightstand.

Shit.
That's all I needed was for her to chew my ass out about something else.

"Mama!"
