Before you even had time to think, the last couple days of the last week approached out of no where. Next thing you knew, the house you had come to know so well was practically empty. The last couple rooms that needed to be packed were the guest room and the room you shared with Tom.
When you got home from an appointment one afternoon, you saw Tom taking out a box of things. Your things. He was wearing a white tank top and track pants, despite it being winter, and he was sweating a bit. Why was he packing your things?
"What are you doing?" You asked, putting your bag down on the clear kitchen table.
"Packing your things!" Tom smiled at you, gently putting the box down on the floor. "Our flight is in a couple days. It's good to pack early."
"Our flight?" You repeating, wincing as you followed him to your room, seeing that most of your things were already packed. Everyday stuff is still out, like your toothbrush, skin care stuff and certain clothes, but everything else was already in a ton of boxes. You don't remember giving Tom permission to pack your things for you, not that you really mind, but what did he mean by 'our flight'?.
"Yes, our flight back to London." Tom spoke with a warm smile. "I'm heading back for the play. Betrayal. Remember?"
"Y-Yes, I know, but what does that have to do with me?" You asked with a wince, crossing your arms.
"We've lived and worked together for several months, have we not?" Tom asked with a smile, standing up to face you completely. "What's a couple more?.."
"A-A couple more?.." You squinted a bit. "We can't stay--what are you talking about?"
Tom could tell the message wasn't clear. He never liked being vague, anyways.
He walked up to you and took both of your hands.
"(Y/N)..." He spoke, looking into your eyes. "I...want you to come back with me. To the UK." He admitted. "I want you to come with me."Your eyes widened a bit and your heartbeat picked up in your chest.
"What!?" You pulled back a bit. "Y-You want me to move to the UK?!"
"M-More in with me, yes.." Tom spoke. "O-Or, at the very least, visit for a couple months, maybe watch me in the play?"
"Tom, wh--" You gave a slight confused smile. You couldn't believe what he was saying. You weren't even sure how to respond. What emotion were you expected to be experiencing right now?
"Y-You're joking, right?" You asked with a nervous chuckle, making Tom wince a bit.
"No, I'm very serious.." Tom admitted. "I'm certain of this.. "
"W-We haven't even been together for half a year!" You replied, your hands going up in disbelief.
"I-I know, I sound absolutely crazy.." Tom admitted, taking your hands again. "B-But I'm absolutely certain about this. About us.."
"Tom, this isn't as simple as you're making it out to be." You replied. "E-Even if I said yes and left with you this week, all of my stuff is still at home, a-and I have friends and family that I can't just leave behind!"
"You wouldn't be leaving them behind." Tom smiled. "You could go down whenever you wish, and they could come visit too!"
"I still have a career! I'm a Twitch streamer!" You frowned. "My career practically requires me living down in America."
"Are there no popular streamers in the UK?" Tom rose a brow. "What about that popular one? The one with the two pugs?"
"PewDiePie? Oh my god, Tom.." You huffed, rubbing your eyes a bit. "That's way different. He has the most subscribers on YouTube. He's up there to get away from people."
Tom frowned some, realizing he really didn't think this plan through. He just didn't wanna be away from you. He can't imagine you two having to split up.
"Shall I get rid of your ticket?.." Tom asked in a sad tone.
"No, I--" You sighed a bit, running your fingers through your hair. "C-Can you give me, like, a day or two to figure it out? To make up my mind?.."
"The flight is in two days, dear.." Tom replied.
"Then you'll have my answer by tomorrow." You smirked, turning away to head to the guest room. You couldn't really describe how you were feeling at this moment. You weren't upset with him, but you weren't exactly happy. How could he expect you to leave everything behind and go with him to the UK? Even if it were for a little while, you'd be away from home for like 3 months minimum, and then what? What happens then? You don't like being uncertain about the future.
But then again, there was a small part of you that didn't want to be away from Tom. You'd love the idea of getting to see his place, meet his dog, explore such an elegant country and have him show you all of his favourite spots. You'd get to sleep in his comfy bed, wear his clothes if you wished, and get to see him perform in a play he hasn't stopped talking about for weeks. It all sounds amazing, getting the chance to stay by his side. He really wants to be with you, and you certainly want to be with him. Seems like there's pros and cons to the idea of leaving with him. You'd really have to think about this.Later that night, Tom had gone out to get some last minute papers for something, so you were home alone, talking with a family member on the phone about this decision of yours, one that you know you could trust. You were facing away from the bedroom door, though it was still open.
"Oh god, (Y/N), he's totally in love with you." They spoke with a soft chuckle. "Why are you even hesitating? It's Tom fucking Hiddleston! A handsome actor is asking you to move in with him! Take it!"
"But who knows when I'll be able to come back down to see you guys? Or even just visit my parents?" You frowned a bit.
"Honey, you're gonna be living with a rich actor. He could fly you up and down whenever he wants!" Your family friend gave a little laugh. "Hell, maybe he'd help bring up your acting thing. Ride his fame! Or at least get him to buy your parents a house."
You chuckled a bit. "Oh my God, can you imagine?" You asked. "I wonder how big his house is.."
"You could get your own office for your twitch thing!" They chirped. "Girl, you better not let this opportunity slip. Even if you're not in love with him."
"Jesus.." You chuckled again. "I mean, you have a point.."
You weren't implying that you weren't in love with him. You actually felt that you did. You just recognize that living with Tom would be rather luxurious, though that's not why you'd want to be with him. You love him for him, not for his things. That's not how it sounded to Tom, though, as he gave a shaky breath while standing at the open doorway of your bedroom, tears in his big blue eyes. You turned when you heard him, shocked to see that he had been standing there, listening to your conversation for who knows how long.
"Tom--" You spoke quietly before watching him stomp away. You frowned, hanging up on your friend and then immedietly chasing after him.
"Tom!"
"I don't want to hear it.." You heard him growl quietly, his voice cracking somewhat. You followed him as he moved to some boxes in the living room, opening one to start taking out some of his things. As he pulled stuff out, his movements were firm and quick. He was angry. Very angry.
"Tom, let me explain--" You tried speaking up again, bringing your hand down to place it on his shoulder.
"I don't want to hear it!" He swiped your hand away as he turned to look at you. You could swear he had blue fire burning in his eyes. They were unusually stern. He was furious with you, furious with what he had just heard from you.
"Is that why you agreed to let me house you?" He asked you, standing up from the box to face you completely, tears leaving his burning eyes. Of course, you couldn't find any words to give him. You weren't used to seeing him this genuinely angry. This upset. He was heartbroken. Heartbroken from a cruel joke.
"Is that why!?" He asked again, raising his voice. It made you jump, your own eyes watering up.
"N-No, you--" You managed to speak up slightly, but your voice was squeaky and soft. You didn't like his anger. It made you uncomfortable.
"Have you been using me this whole time?!" He asked, stepping up to you. You know he'd never lay a hand on you, but you couldn't help but back away and tense up in fear, looking up at him with a shaky breath escaping you.
"I-I'm n-not using you, th-they were joking.."
Tom gave a soft, sad little chuckle, though not out of happiness.
"Right. A joke." He smirked, glaring down at you. "It's all just been a big, bloody joke to you.." He growled darkly. He was staring right through you. You didn't like this, at all, but you could barely muster up a sentence. He pulled back, turning to the box again and grabbing a few more things before moving back into his room to stuff it all in a bag. All you could do was stand in the living room, tears streaming down your cheeks.
He came back out after a minute with a bag full of his things with his keys in his hands.
"And to think, I could've actually been.." Tom spoke with another sad smile, looking at you once more. A single tear left one of his eyes, watching it slowly sliding down his cheek before he turns his gaze away, leaving out the front door with all his things. You didn't see him again for the rest of the week after that, and you knew how he was going to end that last sentence, and you've ruined it.
It broke your heart knowing how much you hurt him.
