The sunlight beaming through the gap in the curtains, brought Xavier peacefully out of his slumber, he let his eyes adjust to the light that flooded the room before looking down to a sleeping Brooke, her limbs had tangled themselves with his and he couldn't help but smile.

This wasn't the first time they had woken up like this, but something felt different this time. Something in the air had changed.

Maybe Xavier needed to go on the path of self destruction to realise what was truly important. He knew Brooke needed to heal in her own way and on her own time, and that it was going to take baby steps to get there.

But in this moment all that mattered was that she had started to trust Xavier and felt safe around him and that was good enough for him at the moment.

"Morning" Brooke whispered, not wanting to break the little bubble of comfort that they had created.

"Hey sleepy," Xavier smiled, kissing the top of her head.

"Thank you for last night Xav," Brooke whispered.

"Anytime my bumble bee," Xavier said, squeezing her tight.

"Question" Brooke laughed "why bumble bee?"

"I did wonder when you were going to ask about that" Xavier smiled as he played with the ends of her hair. "Well everyone has always called you Bee, ever since the day you were born. But I wanted to be different, I didn't want to call you what everyone else was, so when you were brought home from the hospital you were dressed in his black and yellow baby grow thingy that my mom and dad got you. And I dunno it just reminded me of a bee and the name just stuck. I may have always told people off if they called you bumble bee"

"That is cute," Brooke smiled looking up at Xavier. "I don't want to but I best get up and get a shower"

"Meet me downstairs when you are done, it's pancake day" Xavier smirked

"I know" Brooke giggled before leaving his room leaving Xavier laying in the middle of the bed, with a grin on his face.

He was happy and didn't care who knew it. As he rolled out of bed he heard a knock on his door before it slowly opened revealing his dad. Who took in the butterfly stitches on his son's forehead and the dark shadow of the bruise that was forming around his right eye and sighed.

"We need to speak about last night, son" He said leaning against the door frame.

"I will be down in five, meet you in the kitchen yeah" Xavier nodded, gone was his cheery mood.

He knew this was coming, he knew his actions would cause repercussions with the family. He was hoping they gave him a bit more time than first thing in the morning to discuss it.

Running his hands through his messy blonde hair, he used his fingers to pull out some of the knots before grabbing a hair band and pulled the golden locks into a messy bun.

Grabbing whatever clothes he could find before he headed downstairs to face whatever his consequences from the night before were.

As he walked into the kitchen he saw everyone sitting around the table, with just one look on their faces he knew he was going to get a grilling about the previous night.

"Look before you start going off at me, at least let me have a coffee and a smoke first" He mumbled as he poured himself a black coffee before heading out onto the deck.

As soon as he finished his cigarette, he made his way to the table.

"Son you acted like a child last night" His father sighed looking at his only son with disappointment "going to the club to get beat up on purpose, leaving us all extremely worried as the last time this happened. Well you know"
