(I had some extra time on my hands, so here is an extra chapter for today!)
Aaron's POV
I woke up to a clap of thunder. the whole house seemed to shutter with the force of the sound. fear starts rising in my throat. thunder has always scared me ever since i was a child. i remember when i was little whenever i would wake up to the sound of thunder i would crawl in bed with my parents. my mum would hold me in her arms stroking my hair until i fell asleep again. another bout of thunder rolls through the house again. i jump up in response to that. i find myself starting to walk out of my room and down the hall to Mark's room. i stop just outside his room. i raise my hand tentatively and knock.
Mark's POV
a soft knock at the oor roused me from my slumber. thunder booms through the house. i get up and open my door a crack and see Aaron there. he seemed to be genuinely scared.
"Aaron?" i said opening my door wider. "Is everything alright?"
he walked into my room. "I was just-" he's cut off by another roll of thunder. i see him jump slightly his eyes wide and frightened.
"Are you afraid of the thunder?" i asked kindly. he nodded silently, leaning in against me. i hesitated slightly before putting my arms around him. he melted into my arms. thunder sounded again and he buried his face in my chest, mumbling something.
"What?" i asked him.
he looked up into my eyes. "C-can i stay in your room tonight?" he asked glancing away from my eyes. "I-if you don't mind." he blushes furiously, looking absolutely adorable.
i smiled softly. "Yeah," i said, "I don't mind." thunder booms again and aaron practically jumps in my arms. i pull him over to the bed bringing him down in front of me when i lay down. he snuggles into my arms and i pull him closer to me. thunder rolls and he jumps again.
"You want to know the story my mom always told me about thunder?" i asked him.
"Yes," he said turning to face me our noses almost touching.
"it goes something like this; Once upon a time their were two warriors who were very beloved to the people. one was the warrior Ppaleun. his speed was supposed to be the fastest any man has every seen. the other warrior was Soli. his battle cry could be heard around the world and it would shake the very earth itself. one day these two men decided to see who was the better warrior. for days and days they would compete always remaining equals. its said that the sound of thunder is the great Soli's mighty battle cry as he chases after the ever quick Ppaleun." i finished the story and looked back at Aaron. he was sound asleep. i smile and pull him closer falling into the best sleep I've ever had.
