Mark's POV
The days started going by in a blurred haze for me. I would get up in the morning and make calls to Aaron on Skype then his cell, not getting a response from any of them. Then I would proceed to my mini fridge and drink until I couldn't see straight let alone think. Even through my drunken stupor I could still remember what had happened between me and Aaron and what could've been. As a result I would go get myself another drink. At one point I had to go and get more alcohol, because I had run out of my stock. At night I would wake up and throw up all of the alcohol I had put into my system that day. It was the tenth day after Aaron had left when I got a phone call from Aaron's apartment.
"Aaron?" I slurred, having already had a few drinks.
To my dismay Jess's voice was the one that replied. "No Mark this is Jess. Are you all right?" she asked with mock concern. "You don't sound too good."
"I'm fine," I said angrily. "What do you want?"
"I just wanted to tell you how great of a time Aaron and I are having," she said, "And you should just stop calling altogether. Aaron doesn't care about you anymore. So just stop bothering him." I sat there in silent horror. "Hope you have a good day Mark," she says cheerily before hanging up the phone.Aaron's POV
I walk in to see Jess putting down the phone and wonder who she was talking to. When she turns around she smiles at me brightly.
"Did you get it?" she asked coming over to my side.
"Yeah," I said pulling out the package of ramen she had asked for. She squealed with delight before kissing my cheek and rushing off to the kitchen. I picked up the phone and scrolled through the recents. At the top of the list was Mark's number. What had she been calling him for? It was weird I hadn't gotten one call. I had actually said as much to Jess this morning. Maybe she was just checking out to see if she could get a hold of him. Jess walks back in the room and she sees me on the phone.
"What'd you call Mark for?" I asked her before she could speak.
"Well from this morning I was wondering why he hadn't called you," she said, "And when I called him he said that he didn't want to see you again, let alone hear your voice."
My whole world seemed to stop for a moment. How could this have happened? I knew I had messed up but I thought I might be able to repair.
Jess comes over and hugs me. "I'm sorry Aaron." I couldn't say anything through my silent tears.
