God, that title's cheesy
Bucky comes to Natalia's late one night. He can't sleep and he's tried everything. He's never really slept at her house before, but he needs to do something. He thought that he'd just pop in and cuddle her for a moment if she was still awake. She was typically able to get him to fall asleep much quicker than he could on his own. When he arrived, the apartment was dark and silent. She was definitely already in bed. He passed the living area and kitchen and went down the hall that led to her room. He tiptoed into the room.
He saw her there, looking as beautiful as the day he had met her...with a handcuff binding her right hand to her bed post. He is saddened as he remembers the story he told her. In the Red Room, They would handcuff all of the women and girls to their beds so that they could not escape. The mark of any past Red Room woman, even back in him and Steve's time, was that even as adults they would still handcuff themselves to their beds. Almost always their right hand.
He walked to her side and crouched beside the bed. He felt so awful that she had to live with this reminder every night. But what if she didn't... He went to her wrist and used the key on the nightstand to unlock the cuffs. She woke up immediately. "James? What are you... Stop. I need that to sleep." He put the cuff on the nightstand. "I think I have a better idea." he whispered as he kissed her on the forehead. His voice was soft and breathy. He climbed into the bed next to her and pulled her into the little spoon. He took her right hand with his left. He gripped her wrist with his metal hand tightly. "Is this okay, Natalia?" He couldn't see her face, but when she spoke, you could hear the smile in her voice. "Thank you James." His heart lifted. She reached up behind her and played with his hair for a minute. She fell asleep soon after that. As soon as he felt her breathing become even, he was asleep too.
