Rain

Dinner had been delicious and it had been so freeing to go on a date with Natasha where there wasn't any gun play. No cameras, no crime bosses. Just the two of us. Natasha and I now walked side by side in the humid city street. It was late so there weren't many people out on the street aside from us. Street lamps were the only source of light on the quiet streets aside from the occasional car headlights.

We were silent for the first several minutes of our walk, sneaking glances at one another. We both started laughing after the first couple of glimpses at each other. "And we're supposed to be spies." Natasha joked. We laughed again, but then I felt a droplet of water fall onto my cheek. The two of us looked at each other and then up at the sky. It was starting to rain.

Natasha's face fell as rain came down harder every second. "Oh come on," she said, pulling her jacket up over her head. I, however, enjoyed the rain, but her frown made me sad too. Then an idea formed in my head when I saw puddles starting to form in the dips in the poorly paved sidewalk. A smile crept across my face.

I walked for a moment and then stomped into a puddle, splashing Natasha's legs. She recoiled, but the corner of her mouth twitched upwards just a bit before she could stifle it. "Hey what gives?" she asked firmly. I darted my eyes. "What are you talking about?" I asked as my hair was becoming very damp. Natasha rolled her eyes, but smiled. We walked for a few more seconds as it began to pour. My eyes darted to Natasha. Mischief danced in her eyes. She looked down to a puddle and stepped into it a bit more firmly than was natural. The droplets splattered my shoes and I raised my eyebrows at her. She looked incredibly proud of herself.

"Oh, you're on." I challenged. We then set out looking for the biggest puddles on the sidewalk. The puddles got bigger as the rain continued its determined falling. Natasha eventually dropped her jacket and let her hair get wet. We both laughed everytime we splashed each other. Natasha then turned to me and said "You know where there are bigger puddles?" Her eyes drifted to the empty street where huge potholes were filling with water. We looked at one another and I knew we had the same idea.
Our little game suddenly became a race to the potholes in the middle of the street. We were already soaked now, so there was no need to hold back. We would full out jumped into the puddles trying to drench the other one. I had never seen Nat participate in such a childish activity and actually enjoy it. It was so nice to see her having fun. Yeah I know that's super cheesy, but Nat just made me like that sometimes.

Once we were out of breath from jumping around so much, we stopped and stared at each other. We were in the middle of the street, but I don't think either of us realized that. All we were focused on was one another. The two of us grew closer together. Natasha let out a laugh, which I returned heartily. Her smile faded a bit, and I thought she had become sad, but then, she moved in for a kiss. Yep. A kiss in the rain. Super cliche, but somehow perfect. The rain may have been cold, but Nat's kiss made me feel warm. My cheeks felt red hot. We pulled away briefly, but neither of us opened our eyes. I somehow knew we were both smiling.

Before we could do anything else, a car horn broke us up. Apparently we had been standing in front of a car who was trying to drive down the road. Natasha smirked and laughed. "Guess we have to move," she said with a note of disappointment. "Well, we could go back to my place." I grinned. Natasha gave a sly grin and grabbed my hand to take me to the car. Man, how did I get this girl?
