"TO ALL THE STARS WHO LISTEN"

JULIET WAS LAYING in the hospital wing bed with the notes Narcissa had taken for her. It was a rather quiet day. Not many students coming in or out. The young girl was incredibly out of it, her mind in thousands of places. Yesterday she received news that made her feel things that she didn't know she could feel. The Headmaster looked heartbroken and Madam Pomfrey held her hands tightly.

When her brother died, it was like her whole world had shattered, and when hearing that it would take just one more major heart attack to take her life... It was devastating. She was anxious, tired, heartbroken, and all around conflicted. How was she going to tell Narcissa? Or her Aunts and Uncles? Not to mention the boy who had slowly creeped his way into her life? She didn't know what to do.

'Remus' She thought. Remus Lupin has spent almost all of his free time trying to keep her caught up with the work she had missed. What was supposed to be a week turned into two, and she thought they would keep her for another one. Juliet had been in-and-out of St. Mungo's during that time so they could keep check on her heart and overall health. Her parents had even stopped by once to see her.

Juliet wished desperately that she could go and walk around the castle, but she was placed under strict orders by almost everyone she knew to stay in bed. As all these thoughts clouded her mind, Juliet didn't even notice a certain brown haired Gryffindor approach her bed with a smile, with three other boys following behind him.

"Juliet?" Remus called out to her, snapping her out of her own head. "Oh! Bloody hell, I'm sorry, come on, sit!" Juliet forced a smiles and motioned for them sit. Remus and Peter sat where there were two chairs next to her while James and Sirius went to grab themselves some. "How are you feeling?" Remus asked her with a bright grin. "Much better," Juliet knew she was lying straight through her teeth. "You really scared the hell out of us, Jules! We thought you were dying!" Sirius exclaimed as he sat down next to her. 'oh the irony' Juliet thought to herself.

She forced and laugh and looked at the boy, "You've said that every time you've seen me, Sirius." Sirius shrugged and gave her a lopsided smile. "And i'm gonna keep saying it." Juliet rolled her eyes playfully at him. "How was today's classes?" She glanced at all the boys. "Well, besides those two messing around the entire time, they went pretty good... Oh! Speaking of which, I wrote you the herbology notes for this weeks lessons," Remus answered her.

Juliet looked at him fondly. Remus was a complete and utter sweetheart to her, and she loved that. This boy could rip her heart out but if he kept smiling at her like that she would forgive him in a matter of minutes. The other boys watched as the Slytherin and Gryffindor gazed at each other. Each one of them knew that even though they hadn't known the other for long, there was definitely something between the two. And they all just left it unspoken.

It was time for the boys to head back to their dorms for the rest of them night, and as each one of them left, Juliet stopped Sirius and James before they could go. Both boys looked extremely confused. "I have to tell you both something." Just as quickly they went from confused to nervous. "I'm... I'm dying." Juliet's hand gripped her blanket tightly as the words left her mouth. James and Sirius's jaw dropped in horror.

"What?" Sirius stared at her. "If I have another major heart attack, it'll kill me. Not even magic could save or prevent it," Juliet said to them softly. She started shifting in her bed uncomfortably. Saying those words to other people made the situation real. "Did... Did we cause this?" James looked close to tears, guilt written all over his face.

James couldn't help but feel completely responsible for what was happening to her. It was his idea to prank Juliet with fire poppers, and because of that she had a near fatal heart attack. Now... Now it was so much worse. Anything could trigger her heart, and at any moment, she could drop dead.

Juliet shook her head at them. "No! Don't blame yourselves, it was going to happen eventually, and I knew it would have been sooner rather than later," She sighed and looked down at the I.V. in her inner elbow. "I don't want you lot to feel guilty, I just... Nobody knows besides my doctors and the Headmaster, and you both somehow managed to become my friends. You have the right to know."

Sirius put a hand over his upper face and took a deep ragged breath. "You don't deserve this, Jules," He whispered to her. "Merlin, do you deserve better!" James put his hand on his best friends shoulder. "He's right, Jules... You really do," Juliet just let out a dry laugh. "Yeah, well, they say only the good die young."

Another week had gone by, and Sirius and James were giving Juliet the Royal treatment. In all honesty, it amused her greatly. It also left Remus and Peter extremely confused at times. Today was her last day in the hospital wing, and the two Gryffindor's were scrambling all over trying to make arrangements for Juliet to ease back into everything comfortably. Narcissa told her that Sirius was even taking notes for her, making the young girl smile.

"Okay, you gotta tell me your secret, what are you doing to cause James and Sirius to act like that?" Remus questioned her when it was just them two of them. Juliet laughed. "I think they just feel guilty because of my attack," Juliet told him. It was completely a lie, both boys felt incredibly guilty for what happened to Juliet, but she also hadn't told Remus about the fact that her death would be coming soon. Remus nodded before standing up abruptly and reaching for Juliet's hands.

Juliet looked at him confused. "You've been in that bed for days now, and besides using the bathroom, you really haven't move. Come on, stand up!" Remus ushered her. Juliet grabbed his hands and let him help her up. "There you go," Remus whispered as she caught her balance. "What are we doing?" She asked him with a slight smile.

Remus gave her a smile. She loves that smile. "Sway with me?" He asked her. Juliet giggled at him and nodded. "How could I say no?" She made her accent more prominent to make him laugh. It worked. Juliet wrapped her arms around her neck and Remus wrapped his around just above her waist. He stared at her as she smiled and they swayed.

Juliet didn't realize how much he loved her smile too.
