I sat on the roof of our hideout, looking for intruders. I had my knife ready and my focus was on the plains surrounding us.
"Ink, Hey down from there, i told you nobody knows about this place." Dream said.
I rolled my eyes and jumped down to him. He handed me my cloak.
"Child, one day you're going to injure yourself jumping like that." Toriel said coming outside.
I nodded.
"Anyway, were going to the village. We hear they have a jeweler in town today." Dream said.
"Yeah! It'll get us money for sure!" Blue was shaking with excitement.
I agreed to go. But, I'm not allowed to steal right now. Last week I got hit with an arrow in the leg. I can't risk an escape with the scar even if Toriel healed it.
I'd be the one planning an escape route from the trees. I didn't mind that job but I'd rather be part of the action.
When we got to the end of the forest i climbed up the strongest tree and looked for all of the exits of the town. I had an escape plan.
I drew it out and gave it to Dream and Blue.
"Looks good. Stay there, don't leave for anything." Dream said sternly.
I flipped him off and went back up the tree. After what seemed like forever I saw something intriguing.
A blue teared boy stealing from a food vendor. How strange. He must be on his own. Usually thieves and their groups have more than enough coins to buy it. We never need to steal food.
I followed him, leaping from roof to roof in my cloak. My cloak was brown so I blended in well with the roof if I ducked and covered my body with it.
I had to stop when he went through an alleyway. I jumped down and silently walked through. At the end, I saw the glow of fire.
I dove behind a nearby barrel and looked over it. I saw seven skeletons. So the boy was in a group. Now that I get a good look, he's a few years older than me. Handsome and dressed like a peasant.
I watched him change into what I assume to be his normal clothing. That was a royal blue shirt, brown pants, a black cloak, and dark brown boots. I saw he wasn't carrying any weapons with him.
Thieves always carry weapons. That's the second unspoken rule. The first is,
"your group is your family and you cannot forget it."
A good rule I suppose. But, I never necessarily understood why it was a rule. It should be more of a... agreement.
I kept watching. They all seemed rude and barbaric. Loud, not even trying to hide.
Except the blue teared boy. I've learned from listening his name is 'Error'. That's like, one step away from naming a kid mistake but whatever.
Error was quiet from what I had observed. He didn't shout, he didn't laugh, sometimes I was afraid he was dead because he didn't move.
But when he did talk, his voice was glitched and deep. Deeper than I'd think is possible. I tried moving closer to him. I hit something. It fell on the ground.
Error looked right at me, through the bars.
I have been spotted...
