Louis' POV

It's been 2 months since Jenny's been in a coma and there's still no progress and I've made myself sick thinking about it. Bryan calls me everyday with an update on her after his shift with her, but no new changes yet. I was sitting on my bunk when my phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Louis?" They asked.

"Yes?" I asked.

"It's Kacey. I'm up at the hospital with Jenny."

"Is everything okay? Is she awake?" I asked, eagerly.

"No, she's still in the coma, but I wanted to call you and let you talk to her.  Maybe something will change. I doubt it will but we're not having any luck."

"Okay, yeah. Put me on speaker and I'll give it a shot."

I heard shuffling on the other side of the phone then heard Kacey say 'okay'.

"Hey Jen, it's Louis." 'Of course she knows it's you idiot. Kacey already said you're name.' I thought to myself. "Listen to me, I can't even talk cause I'm so worried about you. So come on Jen, I need you to wake up. What would I do without you in my life?" I asked, tears forming in my eyes. "Please Jenny, I love you and I need you."

"Oh my God! Jenny?" Kacey yelled.

"What? What happened?" I asked, eagerly.

"She squeezed my hand. Keep talking, maybe she'll do it again."

"Uh, Jenny, you really need to wake up for me. I have so much to talk to you about. If you wake up, the minute I get home, I promise we will do whatever you want, anytime you want. I just need you back."

"Louis, you just need to come home. Maybe if she feels yours presence, she'll wake up."

"I don't know if I can. I doubt they'll let me leave."

"You can't even leave for family?" She asked.

"No, I don't think so, but I may have an idea."

"What is it?"

"You'll find out. I gotta go. I'm gonna go get started on it." I said before hanging up, wiping my eyes, and running outside.

Kacey's POV

I sat next to Jenny's bed trying to figure out what his plan is when Lacie walked in.

"Hey, any changes?" She asked.

"Yes, actually! I got Louis' number out of her phone and let him talk to her and while he was talking she squeezed my hand."

"I wish he was here. Maybe she'd wake up." She said looking over at Jenny.

"I told him that and he said he may have a plan but wouldn't tell me what it was before he hung up."

"What are you up to Louis?" She asked herself.

I stood up, said goodnight to Lacie and left the hospital. On the way home I got a text from Louis.

L-Thanks for the call. Phase one is in progress. One step closer to being home.

I read the message and lock my phone and continued my drive with only one thing on my mind.

"Please let this work. I need my best friend back." When I got home, I walked to my room and fell asleep.

Jenny's POV

I was sitting in my room at moms when Louis walked in. He looked over at me and smiled before making his way over to me.

"What's up Louis?"

"I miss you Jenny. I need you to wake up before I do something that might ruin my life."

"What do you mean? What are you gonna do?" I asked, confused.

"I can't say. I just need you to wake up and call me." He said before he started to fade away.

"Louis? Where are you going? I need you to help me!"

I jumped up in the hospital bed and looked around. I seen Lacie laying in the chair next to me and looked down at my arms and seen ivs sticking out of them. I looked over at Lacie and tried to say her name but realized I had a breathing tube in, so I looked around for something to throw at her when I found a bottle sitting on the bedside table. I grabbed it and threw it at her, waking her up and making her look at me and scream.

"Jenny! Are you really awake?" She asked before she jumped up and hugged me, crying. "I need to go find the doctor. Then I gotta call mom, Bryan, and Kacey. Do you want anything?" She asked.

I shook my head and she left the room to go find the doctor. A few minutes later she came back with an older man with a lab coat on.

"Miss Henson, it's great to finally meet you." He said smiling at me. "Oh, I'm sure you're ready to get this breathing tube out." He walked over and pulled the tape off my face then pulled the tube out of mouth, then handing me a glass of water, which I gladly took a drink of.

"Thank you, doc. Before we run any tests, do you care if I make a quick phone call?" I asked.

"Not at all. Take your time." He replied, walking out of the room.

"Lacie will you hand me my phone, please?" I asked. She walked over to my purse and fished out my phone and handed it to me before walking out to call everyone and tell them I was awake. I unlocked my phone and went to my contacts to call Louis. It rang a few times before I got his voicemail, so I hung up and tried again, only this time, he answered.

"Look, I don't know who this is, but I'm kinda in the middle of something."

"Oh wow, so first, you're a dick to me the minute I wake up and second, is whatever you're doing more important than this moment?" I smirked. After a minute of silence, I finally asked, "Louis? Are you there?"

"I was just on the phone with Kacey 30 minutes ago and all you did was squeeze her hand. I can't believe it." He stated.

"Well believe it loser, I'm still here to drive you crazy." I said, tears welling up in my eyes.

"Good. That was the worst thing I've ever had to go through and it better not ever happen again."

"It won't. I can't leave you here to do anything stupid. But I gotta get off here so the doctor can run some tests. I love you."

"I love you. Call me later. There's so much I need to talk to you about."

"Okay. Talk to you later." I said before hanging up, calling the doctor back in the room, and going to get tests run.
