Doctor dismissed me hours ago yet I still remained glued to this seat watching over Cläo like a guardian angel.
She can't be in this forever, right?
She isnt stuck like this for eternity, right?
More importantly, where are her friends? Her family? Why is she here all alone?
Just as I asked myself thise questions, Hanna came running through the door, she set her eyes on Cläo and breathed in, steadying herself by holding the door frame.
She swung her bag at me, which I caught, and ran to her side. "Nooo, Cläo baby... please God." It wasnt hard to notice the obvious tears escaping her eyes, she grabs onto her best friend's hand and kisses it.
Are these two really just best friends?
"The doctors say she has more of a chance of waking up then not." I say, she looks over at me, finally acknowledging me.
"What are you doing here?" She asks, still holding onto Cläo's frail hand.
"I couldn't just leave her alone, I'm not a bad person."
"Thank you." She nods, appreciative.
"Why... why aren't her family here?" I finally ask the question that'd been bugging me.
"The doctors had trouble contacting her parents, not that they'd even care." She scoffs before continuing.
"But they did contact her brother and his wife, they're flying from England to come see her, I think they're gonna stay at Cläo's house with me until shes awake... I hope she wakes up soon."
She finally lets go of her hand, she removed the piece of hair that covered her closed eye, before seating herself on the seat next to mine.
"She will. I have faith in her." I assure her.
"She's not done, she has so much more to live for. I know this isn't the end for her."
I was relieved from the moment she spoke to me that I wasn't blamed. The truth is I was afraid of Cläo waking up and resenting me, then again we were both drunk and behind a vehicle. It's her fault almost as much as it is money, right?
And meeting her family... that's something that terrifies me.
