The yowls of mourning cats filled the air as they woke up, realizing that their leader had died to the dream cat that plagued them. They gathered around the body of the she-cat, whimpering and crying to the skies.
She watched.
A transparent being, unable to be seen by the grieving cats. She stared down at them from the forest, her eyes narrowed.
"They knew it was coming.", The cat growled to herself before hearing another voice from behind. An all too familiar voice..."Riley!"
She turned to see a brown, white, and black tom behind her. His pelt shimmered, though it did not have the sparkle of StarClan cats. Riley hissed at him, her tail flicking in irritation. "What do you want, Dapplepaw?" Her voice dripped with annoyance and anger.
"What did you do?" He gasped, walking up to her and seeing the cats surrounding their leader's corpse.
"I did what I always do." The black and white she-cat answered, her black eyes staring holes into the back of his head. The (technically) younger cat looked at Riley with wide eyes. "Why? Why would you do this, they... they didn't have a deputy, they-" Riley quickly interrupted him, snarling. "Because it is the only way I can keep my spirit alive. By hurting others."Dapplepaw sat down, facing her with his tail curling over his paws. "... Riley, listen to me for one second..." The tom stated, staring at her with big, sad amber eyes. His voice filled with sadness as he stared at the cat he had tried to protect in life, and befriend in death.
"What is it, Dapplepaw." Riley spoke flatly, sitting down a few foxlengths in front of him. "Riley, this isn't... you shouldn't do this, the suffering of other cats... they don't deserve it." "They LET him kill me. They deserve it as much as he did." The she-cat snapped back, baring her teeth at the younger. "They never knew, Riley!" "Well they should have! They should have noticed he ran away, they should have searched for him and found his dead body next to mine, knowing that I killed him."
The tom in front of her tensed up at her words, his breath hitching a bit. "R-riley... not every enemy of yours is a Clan cat.." "Does it look like I care? That leader was his daughter, and I swore revenge on all his family. I will not stop until their bloodline is diminished and, eventually, destroyed. Now, if you don't mind I would suggest you leave me here. Because I will never, ever change my mind." She hissed, walking away from the saddened Dapplepaw.
(Whoo! 446 words. Surprised how some people get over a thousand! Anyways, I will be working on chapter two. If I am late then it's probably because school started. Hope you enjoyed!
