Jae couldn't sleep.
He tried to get comfortable, but his comfortable is usually just plopping on his back and passing out, which he can't exactly do as Min is sleeping soundly next to him.
He didn't want to make the younger feel uncomfortable. So he sat there.
And unsurprisingly, Min noticed.
Of course Min wasn't asleep. He loved dreaming, but he wasn't so great at the falling asleep part of the equation.
He sat there feeling his eyes closed and trying for what felt like hours to drift into the nothing that he adored. And after what was actually about 15 minutes he gave up.
Min tried not to laugh as he watched Jae lay there on his phone trying to move as little as possible.
He turned around to face Jae, a small confused look on the older's face as he was convinced the younger was sleeping. "Can't sleep?" He asks.
"Yeah. Why, did I wake you up? I'm sorry-"
Min cuts him off, "no-no you didn't," he smiles, "is there a reason you can't sleep?" He asks sitting up.
"Not necessarily?" Jae says, his eyes trained on the younger.
Min climbs over the older steadying at the edge of the bed, "get comfortable how you usually fall asleep and I'll just slide in wherever I can fit." He directs a soft smile to Jae, his eyes laced with care.
Jae looks reluctant, but nods anyway pushing his back against the wall of his bedroom his thin blanket keeping his back from the cold drywall.
He always starts here at the beginning of the night and ends up laying face first on his pillow.
The older looks up at Min expectantly, signaling that he could join him whenever he was ready.
Minnie smiles his resident soft eye smile climbing in next to the older. He tried to give Jae his own space, but before he could even wonder if he was too close or too far away Jae had already pulled him close to his chest.
Save for the teens breathing, the room was completely silent, neither wanted to say anything, to afraid that they'd mess it up somehow.
Eventually you could hear one set of breathing level out into a soft and steady hum.
Min sat there for a bit, looked up at him, admiring his every feature. It was flawless, he was flawless. His light breathes soft and shallow, Min figured he had fully fallen asleep.
He had to use every bit of self control he's ever had not to let his hand move up and gently graze Jae's face.
No way he was real. He was too perfect. On a completely different level. A level that Lee Jeongmin couldn't ever even attempt to approach.
Jae was out of his league, and yet he was holding him as he slept like he was afraid the other boy would disappear if he let go.
My god Min's brain couldn't even begin fathom this. His heart needed to calm down before it breaks one of his ribs.
Min closes his eyes, desperately trying to make the thoughts of the other go away. He tries to calm his breathing, closing his eyes and taking slow breathes.
And eventually, he fell asleep.
It was kind of unthinkable.
Falling asleep sounds pretty normal, but for Min, it was insane.
I mean he fell asleep. Just like that.
No pills, no exhausting himself for days and then sleeping for a whole day when his body couldn't take it anymore.
He was just asleep.
And his dreams, they were gorgeous. He can't remember a single second of any bit of them, but he know that they were gorgeous.
He thought he tried everything he could to get himself to fall asleep, little did he know his cure has been right in front of him since sixth grade.
