Chapter 9

I couldn't believe I was standing in the line to get into the 21 and under club. This was the most fun I've had in weeks. I was already so excited and we weren't even inside yet. Thanks to that and the fact that I had took 2 more pills before we even left the house I was high on life. I was ready for anything that tonight had to throw at me.

"Okay come on." Ashley said. "Where were you? You have been gone a long time?" She laughed as she said "Don't worry about that. The most important thing is that we're inside." "You got us in!?!" "I told you I would didn't I!" "Oh my god!" I said squealing like a school girl. "I don't know how you managed this but I love you!" "Of course you do!" She said as we entered the door.

It was so colorful inside! It looked like everything you seen in the movies I couldn't believe it. The music was loud. There were people everywhere. It was so awesome! I felt like I was a Hollywood socialite "I GOT ONE MORE SURPRISE FOR YOU." She said screaming so she could be heard over the loud music. "OKAY!" I said the excitement clear in my voice. "I'LL BE RIGHT BACK! DON'T GO ANYWHERE." "OKAY" I say. feeling less excited. I hope she doesn't do this all night. I hate being alone in a place where I didn't know anyone.

"YOU LOOK BEAUTIFUL." I turn around and it was the Starbucks guy with Ashley. "I TOLD YOU I HAD A SURPRISE FOR YOU DIDN'T I?" All I did was smile. I really didn't want him here. Looking at him reminded me that Shane wasn't here. And I so badly wanted him to be here. So instead I screamed.

"SHOT TIME!" I immediately turned around and said "9 SHOTS OF WHISKEY PLEASE." "9 SHOTS?" "YEAH 3 A PIECE." "WOW THIS IS SO UNLIKE YOU." "I WANT TO HAVE FUN! AND I NEED TO BE DRUNK FOR THAT." Me and Ashley both started laughing. "TRUE" she said. "HERE'S YOUR 9 SHOTS OF WHISKEY LADIES." Said the bartender. Before Ashley had a chance to say anything I said "READY 1...2...3!!!" We all immediately chugged the first shot and then downed the next 2.

"SO WHATS YOUR NAME?" I said to the Starbucks guy. I really don't want to keep calling him that. I also don't want to accidentally call him that. "DAVID" He said. "WHAT A NICE NAME!" I say. Hating myself for my choice of words. Luckily Ashley came to save the day. "CHOOSE YOUR POISON." Ashley said holding 9 more tequila shots. "SHOT. SHOT SHOT." I say way too excited while doing a little dance. "OKAY I THINK YOUR STARTING TO GET DRUNK." "YAY!" I say as I grab all 3 of mine.

"TO NEW BEGINNINGS! AND LOTS OF ALCOHOL!" I say as we all 3 start to down our alcohol. "YUP. I'M GONNA GET ONE MORE ROUND BEFORE IT'S TIME TO DANCE!" "GET ME THREE!" "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THREE MORE." She said as she walked away.

Then I realized I was left there with David again. ALONE. "YOUR FRIEND SEEMS FUN." "YEAH SHE LOVES TO PARTY." I said awkwardly. "I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE GOT ME INTO THIS PLACE." Disbelief clearly in his voice. "ME NEITHER!" After that it grew quiet again. I started looking for Ashley but she was only half way there.

"SOO.. WHAT'S IT LIKE TO WORK AT STARBUCKS?" "GOOD. YOU SHOULD COME AND APPLY. THERE'S AN OPENING IT WOULD BE MUCH MORE FUN TO HAVE YOU THERE?" "I DOUBT THEY WOULD HIRE ME. I DON'T HAVE THAT MUCH EXPERIENCE IN COFFEE." "IT'S REALLY EASY TO LEARN. I COULD TALK TO THE MANAGER..... IF YOU WOULD LIKE." He said sensing my reluctance. "SURE." I said nodding my head. Even though I knew I would never take him up on that offer.

"HERE THEY ARE LADIES AND GENTLEMAN." She said handing me 2 shots. "I DIDN'T WANT TO GET YOU THREE. BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO BREAK YOUR HEART. SO I MET YOU HALF WAY." "IT'S BETTER THAN NOTHING." I say as I chug the two tequila shots. "ALRIGHT LET'S GO DANCE!" Ashley says as she leads the way to the dance floor.

We were pushing our way through a crowd of people. Which was hard they were everywhere. I'm surprised they didn't knock us over. "MAN PEOPLE REALLY LIKE TO DANCE HERE." "THEY'RE DRUNK NICOLE." "OH.... THAT MAKES SENSE." David stifled a laugh. "IT'S NOT THAT FUNNY. DA-VID." I say drawing out his name. "IT'S PRETTY FUNNY." "YEAH IT KIND OF IS." I say starting to laugh with him.

"HEY! I THOUGHT WE'D NEVER FIND YOU." Ashley said to some guy I had never seen before. She must of known him pretty well though cause she kissed him as soon as she was done with the sentence. I can't believe she never told me about him. We weren't mad at each other for that long.

I guess I was gawking because Ashley said "WHAT? YOU DIDN'T THINK I WOULD COME HERE WITHOUT A DATE! YOU KNOW I HATE TO BE A THIRD WHEEL." I just nodded my head. "NICOLE DAVID" She said pointing from one of us to the other. "MEET JEREMY. JEREMY MEET NICOLE AND DAVID." "HI.' we both said as the same time. "NICOLE IS MY BEST FRIEND." "AH YES. I'VE HEARD A LOT ABOUT YOU NICOLE." wish I could say the same thing about you. I thought to myself. "I HOPE IT'S ALL GOOD THINGS." I say through a fake smile

I think Ashley sensed my hostility because she turned to Jeremy and said "ALRIGHT LET'S DANCE!" she said grabbing Jeremy's hand. Leaving me and David awkwardly there standing next to each other. Luckily a shot girl was walking around. "FOUR PLEASE." She hands me two of the blue and two of the pink. I hand David two. We down them without a second thought and handed it back to the shot girl.

When I just started busting out laughing for no reason I knew then and there I was drunk. I also was ready to dance. I didn't care that I wasn't a good dancer. I didn't care about what anyone had to say. I was ready to truly party. I started following the first girl within eye sight. Wasn't long before David was dancing with me. and in an even shorter time than that we were moving like the rest of the people here. But the most important part I was having fun.

"WHERE DID YOU LEARN YOUR MOVES?" David said obviously trying to make conversation. "FROM HER." I said pointing to the girl in the blue dress. David laughed. "AND HERE I WAS THINKING IT WAS ALL NATURAL." "LIAR!!" We both started busting out laughing."YOU'RE DOING BETTER THAN I AM." "THAT'S NOT HARD." I say with a cheesy grin indicating i'm lying.

"YOU KNOW YOUR A LOT OF FUN." "SO ARE YOU." "ARE YOU HAVING A GOOD TIME...." "YEAH. WHY WOULDN'T I BE?" "ASHLEY TOLD ME WHAT HAPPENED.... WITH THE LAST GUY YOU HAD A CRUSH ON." I immediately stopped dancing. You could tell that he immediately regretted saying anything. "I'M SORRY I SHOULDN'T OF BROUGHT IT UP... SHE TOLD ME NOT TO BRING IT UP."

I felt so many emotions in that very moment. Sadness at the mention of Shane. Fear of having to talk about it. Anger towards Ashley for telling him something so personal. He must of knew what I was thinking because he said "PLEASE DON'T BE MAD AT HER. SHE JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE I DIDN'T RUN AWAY. THAT I UNDERSTOOD." "I REALLY DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS RIGHT NOW. I say as I turn away about to leave. When he said "I'M SORRY." "PLEASE FORGET I SAID ANYTHING. WE WERE JUST HAVING SUCH A GREAT TIME. I THOUGHT WE WERE GETTING CLOSE. I JUST WANTED YOU TO OPEN UP TO ME." "YOUR RIGHT... I'M SORRY.. I'M JUST REALLY NOT READY TO TALK ABOUT IT YET." "I UNDERSTAND." I felt very grateful and relieved that he was the one who was apologizing to me.

Just then my favorite slow song came on. "MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE MY LADY." He said as he took a bow. I was about to say no. When I just figured what the hell. I was drunk anyways. and he left me! So I might as well have fun.

I take his hand and we start slow dancing. "I'M DYING TO CATCH MY BREATH. OH WHY DON'T I EVER LEARN? I'VE LOST ALL MY TRUST. THOUGH I'VE SURELY TRIED TO TURN IT AROUND." The song belted through the speakers. I loved it! It was the perfect song to dance to. This moment just felt so.... perfect...

"MAY I HAVE THIS DANCE?" I hear a voice say behind me. When I turned around I could feel the excitement build up inside me "Shane"
