remember when we were young
and they used to say
the most powerful word is NO
if that was true
why didn't NO stop me from falling in love with you
why didn't NO stop me from flicking ash from my cigarette
why didn't NO stop my dad from using his hands
why didn't NO stop the teasing
why didn't NO stop him from taking advantage of me
if NO is so powerful,
why didn't it work when we needed it the most?
