Part One
"Can I ask you something?" Asteria looked to Daisuke.
"Sure," he responded.
"Do you think she was after me?"
"You said she attacks anyone."
"I mean specifically...you see, my sister is the head of the corporation, but it's supposed to be me."
"Isn't she older than you?"
"She's going to be queen, which means she can't take the reigns. Which also means I have to do it."
"It doesn't sound that bad."
"Maybe you don't know, mister 'I live in Midgard and don't know about Asgard'. The Llorente family might as well be royalty. You take us out, Asgard will be destroyed."
After the fight, Daisuke and Asteria decided to take a break and rest. The excitement had gotten to Asteria and she felt like she was lightheaded, so Daisuke helped her stand. Before the two reached an inn, smoke was seen from afar and a burning smell was in the air. Both ran in the direction of the smoke and found a house on fire. A young girl cried out for someone, but no one was brave enough to enter, not without any backup. Daisuke went in headfirst and looked for where the voice came from.
Quietly, he pushed open a few doors until the crying became louder. He opened the last door to find a young girl crying on the floor. He slowly approached her and started talking to her in a quiet soothing voice. She stopped crying and looked up at him. When the time was right, he picked her up and she held onto him tightly as they exited the building. However, right before the two made it to the doorway, a piece of wood full of flames fell. Daisuke reacted immediately and summoned a shield to keep him and the girl safe as they finally left the burning house.
He put the girl down and she had tears in her eyes; she explained that she heard a loud noise and went to see what it was when she found it, it had gone but left a fire in its stead. The hunters around gathered and took the girl to an inn to stay as the knights tried to figure out what happened. They turned to Daisuke and gave him some gold for his bravery and saving the girl then left. Asteria went back to Daisuke's side and saw he had some burns on his hands, she took him to the inn and took care of him.
She put cold water on his burns as he sat on the table wearing a white shirt and pants while his normal clothes sat in cold water. She removed the water to see his burns were almost fully healed, he simply smiled at her as he used a healing arte on himself to heal the wounds. She sighed, she forgot he was a caster for a moment; she was so caught up in the action, that her mind went elsewhere.
"What do you think?" Daisuke asked.
"About what?" Asteria responded with another question.
"The fire."
"I think my sister would kill me if I had been in that position."
"It was a little girl; she isn't used to dealing with fire."
"Whatever, it does make me question what happened."
"Do you think a monster attacked?"
"It's a possibility."
Daisuke stood up and stretched, he had too much excitement for one day and went to take a shower. The warm water felt good on his body, he hadn't taken a warm shower in days and it felt nice to finally take a break. He dried off when he was done and saw Asteria held a necklace in her hand. It was small with what looked like little berries attached to a silver chain. She was interested in where he got it and he told her a friend had given it to him. She put it back on the table and went for her turn to wash up.
