Monday morning, Cassandra had already tended to her morning duties and was waiting for her twin to accompany her to the school. Ms. Windsor waited at Cassandra's side until the twin came out of the bathroom. "Ready?" Ms.Windsor said. Alex nodded as she slid on her shoes. The three walked out of the girls' dorm towards the academic building. "Hey Alex!" Someone called from behind. Alex lifted her head to the sky as if to groan audibly but nothing came out. She quickly turned and smiled attentively. It was Petey who jogged up to her side. "I was wondering if you'd like to walk to class together." He smiled. 'Can I have one morning where I can just be alone?' Alex thought. "Sure." She said. SHe began to walk with Petey. "Where are you going?" Ms. Windsor said in Korean. In private conversations, Alex and Ms. Windsor speak Korean to each other. "This boy wants to walk me to class." Alex replied in Korean. Alex grabbed her books from her locker, noticing a note on the door. "WATCH YOUR BACK SLUT!" Alex rolled her eyes and crumpled the note before anyone else could see it. Heading into English class, Jimmy and Gary were already there. Jimmy sat in the second to last seat in the back, Gary sat in the far back corner, while Petey sat two seats in front of Jimmy. Alex sat in between the two boys and waited for the teacher to enter the room. 5 minutes after the late bell had rung, there was still no sign of the teacher. "Where is the instructor?" Ms. Windsor said in Korean. "I'm not sure." Alex replied in Korean. "I will take note of this incident, this is highly unprofessional." Ms. Windsor added in Korean. "Hey! Sweetheart! This is English class, y'know, where we speak ENGLISH." Gary smirked. Alex gave him a cheeky smile and narrowed her eyes noting of how he used that putrid nickname once more. The English teacher staggered into the classroom clutching his head and his files in another. He slumped into him seat. "Do we have someone new here?" his eyes searched around the room. Alex stood up with Ms. Windsor. And came to the front of the room. "Hello, I am Ms. Windsor, this is Alex. I am her..mentor." Ms. Windsor took hold of his callous hand and shook it gently. "Please call me Lionel." The teacher squinted and gave a faint smile. Ms. Windsor mouthed the name to herself to ensure she'd never mess it up as she made her way to the seat next to Alexandra. Throughout the class, Alexandra excelled in her studies proving to everyone. She may have been careless with her actions, but never her academics. By the end of class, the bell rang. Not wanting to stay any longer, Alex grabbed Ms. Windsor away from Mr.Galloway and down the hall. "Careful, you don't want to hurt yourself, jagiya. (honey- in Korean)" Ms. Windsor said as Alex practically dragged her through the halls. "I just..don't want to lose track of time. What's my next class?" Alex wore a concerned look on her face which was highly legible to others. "Next class is..gym with Mr..Burton." She said rummaging through her binder of papers. "Cassie is in that class." Alex muttered to herself. She took hold of her gym bag and walked towards the gym. Into the girls' locker room, the twins pulled out their uniforms. "Am I missing a piece?" Cassandra searched through her bag as her sister stood in awe with what she had held in her hands. "Girls? Are you ready?" Ms. Windsor's head peered around the corner into the locker room to see the girls hadn't changed yet. "My goodness these are short." Ms. Windsor said holding up the so-called shorts. "Maybe, they are stretchy." She shrugged. The twins reluctantly put on their uniforms and entered the gym. Students were already lining the bleachers as Cassandra took her usual spot next to the Preps, Alex was stuck between two. On her left were the jocks cheering each other on and to her right was Pete, Gary, and Jimmy. Petey waved to Alex and patted the bleacher indicating that they had saved a spot for her. In no favor to either side, she sat next to Johnny who held Lola in his lap. Alex nodded as a form of a hello to Johnny and he did the same. Mr. Burton blew the whistle. "Alright you feckless maggots, we'll be playing dodgeball this morning. Ah, how I love to hear you boys crying in the morning. Alright you lazy bums, LOOK ALIVE! I want you boys to give it your best." He bellowed and blew his whistle. "Today, I wanna see on the blue team: Norton, Hal, Peanut, and Johnny." The boys stepped down to the floor with Lola attaching her lips once more to Johnny's before he left her side for the moment. "Red team: Hopkins, Cassandra, Alexandra, and Algie." He yelled. Alexandra stood up questionably while exiting the bleachers. She looked out for her twin who was being cheered on by her fellow preps. She stood at the center of the floor with her team and her opponents. Everyone gathered to the middle and put their hands in as a peace offering. Jimmy placed his on top of Alex's giving her a wink, Algie reluctantly placed his sweaty palm on Jimmy's. We went the opposite ends of the gym, Jimmy was up front with Norton. As the whistle blew, they fought over the single ball as Norton won it over, beaming Algie first. He was out. Cassandra quickly picked up the ball and passed it to Jimmy who nailed Hal. Norton regained control of the ball and threw it at Alex who caught it. Using a counterattack, she softball-pitched the ball into Norton. He was out. The crowd winced at the impact noise of the ball hitting Norton's abdomen. Norton smiled as he walked off the court. Peanut took the ball and slammed it into Jimmy's face. Alex grabbed the call before it rolled to the other side and tossed it to her sister. Cassandra softball-pitches it into Peanut leaving Johnny to himself. Johnny grabs the ball throwing at Alex. She attempts to dodge it but fails earning herself an out. Johnny takes the ball while Burton wasn't looking at tosses it at Cassandra's face. The noise of the impact was enough to send the preps into a rage and to have Burton turn around calling round 2. To the crowd's surprise Cassandra grinned at the greaser. Once round 2 started, Jimmy walked up to the front. "Let's switch Hopkins." Cassandra grin maniacally. Jimmy could, now, re the resemblance between the two besides their looks. Cassandra took the front with Norton who stood in confusion. He eyed and waited for Burton's disapproval but he could wait no longer. The whistle blew. "Dontcha think it's a little unfair to let her go up against me?" Norton announced. Cassandra grabbed the ball and began to tug forcefully causing Norton to fall over the line, he quickly regains his footing only to meet the hard side of a rubber ball. Peanut and Hal made the same fate. As Jimmy held the ball, Cassandra took the ball gingerly from his hands and twirled it between her fingernails. Brushing by Alex and both of twins shared devious smiles, Cassandra help one hand behind her back and tossed the ball lightly. As Johnny's eyes were on the ball above them, she pulls out another ball from behind her back and uses her and her twin's signature move. The impact echoed off the walls, louder than the crowd itself. Cassandra skipped over to where Johnny laid and leaned over top of his line of sight. She leaned in closely, "That's for nailing my sister." She chuckled and walked off. Johnny sat up and watched her hypnotizing hips as she walked. Cassandra was assaulted by hugs from not Pinky but mainly Derby. He wrapped his hands around her tight abdomen as he eyed the greaser with hungry eyes. How Johnny wished he could be in his place, but he could never measure up to the value or relationship Derby had with her. Johnny shook his head scolding himself once more. 'Why dream big when I've got my beauty by my side.' He thought eyeing Lola who happened to be walked down the stairs in the distance. He immediately gets up to follow her. In the boys' bathroom was an echo of giggles off the grimy walls. Peering through the crack in the door was Lola with Tad. Johnny unleashes the bathroom stall door from its hinges and finds Lola laying all over a reluctant prep. It was obvious to Johnny that the prep wasn't the one who started it. Lola stood in awe as she tried covering herself as Johnny exited the bathroom up into the gym again. "Good game." Cassandra said raising a hand to Johnny which he rudely denied by bumping into her and continuously walking. "Hey come on. I didn't hurt your feelings that bad did I?" she shouted. Johnny could only see red from that point on. He marched out of the gym and off campus in the blink of an eye. "Alex." Ted called out making Alex turn around. "You, uh, wanna watch my-our football practice. I kinda need someone to hype me up for our game tonight." Ted stood and waiting for the brunette's answer. "Uh, yeah. Sure. Mandy's not going?" Alex tilted her head. Not to mention, she hadn't seen Mandy around lately since their encounter. "Nah, her parents are out of town and they took her with them. She'll be gone all week." He sighed while looking around as if to search for another conversation topic. "When's practice?" Alex set her weight on her wide hips. "In a few minutes actually. You wanna?" Ted motioned his large hand towards the stairs. Alex returned with a nod. She waited by the hall for Ted to get changed when her twin walked by. "Alex, have you seen Johnny?" Cassandra worn a distraught look. "No Cassie, I haven't seen ya boyfriend." Alex jabbed at her sister. "Not now Alex, this is serious!" Cassandra whined. "Alright, I saw him leaving the gym after you spoke to him. Don't know where he went." Alex's shoulders rose and fell as she carelessly leaned up against the wall. "Let me know if you see him," Cassandra ran back up the stairs in a hurried manner with Ms. Windsor following her. Alex hadn't seen her sister so disgruntled since they were both 7. As much as Alex wanted to know what her problem was, she knew her sister would have it under control and solve things for herself. Cassandra never liked to have others intervene in her problems, it would only cause her more stress. "Alright, let's head to the field." Ted said throwing his towel over his shoulder. The two walked to the football field where they met with the rest of the members. "Let's get it boys!" Ted yelled as he tossed his towel to Alex and throwing his bag to her. She managed to catch both without dropping them. 'The hell does he keep in his bag that makes it so bloody heavy?' Alex thought as she placed it carefully on the bleachers. Watching the football practice wasn't as exciting as she thought it would be. If it wasn't for the jocks warming up to Alex, she would've left sooner. At the end of practice, Ted walked up to the bleachers. "What did ya think?" He shouted while panting harshly. "Ya did great." Alex said leaning over the fence to wipe the sweat from Ted's glistening forehead. "Anything in particular you liked the most?" He smirked while looking straight into her vibrant green eyes. "Hm, that tackle on the second down turned the tables for me." She said with enthusiasm. Alex was into American football as she was to football back home. She liked the uniqueness behind it rather than the actual sport itself. "You thinking about coming to our game?" Ted raised his eyebrows and squinted from the harsh sun above. "I dunno." Alex said as she handed Ted his sports drink. "Come on Alex. I'm gonna need me a cheerleader." He jokingly smirked as he took a swig of his drink. "And as far as I'm concerned you fit the bit perfectly." Ted added. "Alright, just for tonight." She rolled her eyes as she handed Ted his bag. "Oh, and where something cute." He winked. Alex tossed the damp towel into Ted's face as she exited the bleachers. "Nuh-uh. You aren't leaving yet." He said grabbing Alex's sleeve and turning her around. "Bring it in," He said stretching his arms out. "What for?" She questioned while taking a step back. "Uh, for that win in the gym today and just because." He said motioning for her to come closer. "Can't you atleast change first?" Alex chuckled as she walked backwards, Ted followed her. Alex stopped when the back of her legs touches the edge of the bleachers when Ted's sweaty arms engulfed her. "I don't know why you're flinching. You're a jock now, you can't be afraid of a little sweat." Ted joked while holding the small girl in his large arms. "Mphm, I have to go now Ted." She muffles through his bicep. He released her from his tight grasp and admired her as she walked away. "See ya at 8!" Ted said. "I'll be there!" Alex shouted back as she skims up the stairs towards the dorm. Standing in front of the dorm was none other than that huge kid from her first day there. Once his eyes laid upon her, his gaze locked as if he were looking for specific body language or more importantly:fear. "Hey!" he shouted echoing the stone walls surrounding the campus. Alex looked up at his making direct eye contact as she shuffled her feet in place. "You're new girl?" His speech was very much broken from those few words. He wasn't the smartest of bunch but boy was he intimidating. Alex gulped audibly and nodded. "A-..Al..lex?" He asked. Alex nodded quickly again. "Russell sorry for other day. Bad Russell." He scolded himself in third person. "Russell no mean to hurt pretty girl. Russell likes pretty girls." He said twiddling his enormous thumbs in his hands. "It's alright." Alex shook her head. "Russell brought you flower." His hand unravelled like a piece of paper as his handed me a pressed flower from his hand. Alex shook her head and bit her lip, "It's fine. I'm alright." She said. "You no take?" he cocked his head to the side. Not wanting to enrage the barbarian, Alex's hand shook as she removed the flower from his hand. "Thank you, I gotta go." She said politely as she moved past the barbarian. "Bye, Alex." He waved from the steps as the front door of the girls' dorm closed. Alex huffed and ran up the three flights of stairs to her room. Cassandra still wasn't back yet but Alex wasn't concerned. "Nice place ya got here." Jimmy said walking out of the closet. Alex jumped and threw a nearby book at him. "Ow! Watch it, girl." He chuckled at her look of surprise. "Why the hell are you in here. Petey, you too?" Petey stood behind Jimmy in hiding. "Relax, sweetheart. We just wanted to hang." Gary said walking out of the bathroom. Alex's eyes widened when she saw the three boys and held back the urge to throw something else. "We didn't know where you were so I suggested we wait here." Jimmy said. 'Knew I couldn't trust an idiot like him.' Alex narrowed her eyes and bit her lip. Who knew what they had looked through in her room, invading her only safe space, HER privacy. "So tell us ,love. How did you do it?" Gary leaned against the desk. "Do what?" Alex raised an eyebrow. "You're almost dumb as Hopkins." He muttered to himself. "Make the big ape fall in love with you." Gary smiled a menacing smile. "I didn't do anything. He just apologized." Alex shrugged the scarred boy off to rid of her embarrassment she felt within. She knew all Gary wanted was a reaction out of her, but she wasn't about to just give it to him. "Come on, did you..you use your charming words to win him over, were you wearing some promiscuous? Did you just outright flash him?" "I wouldn't mind that." Jimmy added in. Alex's eyes cut towards his direction as he shut his mouth before another sly comment slipped out. "He just apologized Gary. What more do you want from me?" She said sitting on her bed leaning her elbow on the headrest. Gary motioned for the boys to leave as she was left in a room with Gary. "I wanna know, what's with you. You're always avoiding us Alex." Gary sneered. "Are you hiding something from us?" Gary stooped down to eye level with Alex. She felt his course breath on her upper lip as she stood with her stoic look. "What's there to hide. Sure you don't know certain things about me. Doesn't mean I'm hiding it." She shrugged while smiling. "Then tell me this, why won't you let me call you sweetheart." He smirked. "I just don't like it, nicknames makes me uncomfortable." Which was the wrong choice of words she had given to the scarred boy. "Does it really sweetheart?" Gary took his index finger and thumb harshly pressing them together on her chin and leaning into her lips. She tried her best not to give hima reaction and remained still. Gary's teeth clenched as he let go. "I know what you're doing. Trying to break me aren't ya. Well, it's not gonna happen. I'll get what I want from you, it's as simple as that." He paced in the room as he pointed to her. Alex shrugged and slid off of her bed. "Fine, then." She said opening the door to let Gary out. His continuous mumbles trailed throughout the halls with Jimmy following close behind. Alex grabbed onto Petey's shoulder causing him to jump. "You stay here." She said pulling him back into the room. Petey sat up straight at the desk chair afraid to make any movement that might disturb the mystical creature that occupied this space with him.
