a pretty long imagine ahead.

y/n thought she knew jerome valeska, they grew up together, always shared their secrets with one another, always had fun in the circus, their home. she actually fell for the ginger boy, but didn't tell him that, fearing that it might ruin what's between them, because she didn't know if jerome felt the same.

everything changed after the time at the gcpd, y/n was next to lee thompkins when jim gordon interviewed jerome and mr.cicero, her y/e/c eyes widening at the words 'you killed your mother, jerome,'.

she didn't want to believe it, she couldn't, her heart almost shattering when jerome started crying, wanting nothing but to pull him in her arms and hug him, but stopping herself when jerome's lips turned into a grin that she had never seen before in her life. she was lost in her own thoughts, not even clearly listening to the conversation that was happening between them after, only snapping herself out of it when guards came to take jerome to arkham asylum, the ginger's last words to her being "i'll find you, y/n! i'll get out of the shit hole and find you!" he yelled while laughing maniacally.

it had been almost a month since the incident, y/n was always trying to make herself think that she had somehow moved on but deep down she knew that she missed jerome and wanted to see him, ignoring the fact that he killed his own mother and he's basically a psychopath, she still loved him, and in someway she felt guilty about it.

she had moved away from the circus, even though it was hard to leave the place where she grew up and her friends who were like a family to her, she knew it was for the best. now she was living in a small, but really cosy apartment in gotham and working at a diner where she actually got paid well.

it was another cold and rainy monday in gotham and y/n was spending the afternoon on her couch in front of a tv, wrapped up in a blanket that actually jerome had gifted her for her birthday. she didn't even notice that she was slowly drifting to sleep, the tv playing softly in the background before she passed out, missing the news.

"........jerome valeska, barbara kean, robert greenwood and three other inmates had escaped the arkham asylum, be safe gotham." said the lady on the screen and it immediately cut to some other news when y/n started to slowly wake up. she yawned and stretched, turning the tv off and starting to get ready for her night shift at the diner, feeling really lazy to do so, but work is work.

after some minutes she reached the building, unlocking it and turning all the lights on, walking behind the counter and in the small office type of room, placing her coat down. she knew that nobody really came to the diner at night, but some nights the building would be full with people, so she got at least some money. it wasn't even ten minutes that she was in the diner but she already heard someone come in, she furrowed her eyebrows, walking out of the office, her soft lips turning into a small smile when she saw the two teenagers, maybe a bit younger than her, holding their hands and scanning the menu.

y/n did some other stuff while the couple was sipping on their drinks, sometimes even having a nice conversation with them. she smiled to herself when they giggled to themselves and did all the cute stuff that some couples do, remembering some of the moments with jerome at the circus even if they weren't together.

after a while the boy and girl finished their drinks, paying for them and starting to walk out, before the blonde boy turned towards y/n again "hey uh, since you're working a night shift, be careful." he said, walking out of the diner. the girl only smiled at him, not fully understanding the meaning behind it, so she just continued the usual things she did while working.

after a while she was just sitting at the desk in the office, listening to the soft background music that was on, lots of thoughts flowing in her head but snapping out of them when she heard someone come in again. y/n made her way out of the office, a small notebook and pen in her hands where she usually wrote down the orders, looking around the diner when she didn't see anyone, rolling her eyes and walking back to the office, not even prepared for what she will see next.

y/n dropped her notebook and pen on the floor, seeing the ginger sitting on the chair at the desk with his legs crossed, the same grin she saw in the gcpd on his face. she didn't know what to say, lots of questions and other things in her head, one of them being 'how the fuck did he get in there without her seeing, was she blind or something?'.

"hi gorgeous, have you missed me?" he asked, waiting for the girl to reply. she knew that this day will come, he did say that he's going to find her but she didn't even know what she's going to do when that day comes. will she run into his arms and say how much she missed him? will she be terrified and run away from him, not wanting for him to kill her? y/n didn't even notice that jerome was now standing in front of her, his hand moving to hold her cheek, brushing his thumb softly against her skin, that's when she knew that she missed him, just a little touch from the boy she loves and that's it, the need to press her lips against his was really high.

so she did exactly that, her arms moving to wrap around jerome's neck, pulling him into a loving kiss that made her feel like fireworks were exploding in her stomach, literally. jerome's hand stayed on her cheek while the other arm was wrapped around the female's waist, holding her close, y/n wasn't the only one in love, jerome loved her too, so much that he was actually a bit scared to see y/n's reaction when she sees him, now he knew how the girl felt and wanted to spend his whole life with her.

after what felt like forever, they pulled away from each other, they didn't even need words to understand how they felt for each other. jerome stared in her beautiful y/e/c eyes that he adored so much, backing her up and pressing her against the wall behind her, his lips turning into a smirk "well princess, that's a very good way to tell me that you've missed me, but i think i know a better way how to celebrate that i'm finally back." he whispered, his eyes darkening in someway, leaning down and nibbling at her neck. y/n knew she was in for a long night.
