Snow Days

Phil woke to the sound of his phone buzzing repeatedly along his bedside table. Slowly opening his eyes he reached for it with one hand. He grabbed it just before it fell off and reclosed one eye as he unlocked it to avoid being blinding by the light. 4 messages. ‘Whoever it is better have a good reason to wake me up this early,’ Phil thought; it was the weekend for heaven’s sake! Three were from Dan, one from PJ. It had only been two months since he had met Dan and PJ (and Chris) in a small café but they were already spending most their time together.

Snow Day!

Phil read the first from Dan with a puzzled expression. Snow? Surely it wasn’t cold enough for that yet? He opened the second, sitting up in bed.

Meet at park- 10 sharp! X

Phil groaned as he checked the time- 9:45 – and looked outside seeing that his garden was in fact blanketed in snow.

Don’t forget gloves ;)

Before doing anything, he checked the last message from PJ, hoping it would say he could go back to bed and PJ would deal with Dan’s excitement.

You better be at the park- I don’t wanna be stuck on my own with Dan when he’s like this.

No such luck. Taking into account the ten minute walk to the park, Phil had five minutes to get dressed. He pulled on a couple of layers –making sure both sets of socks were odd- and shovelled a bowl of cereal into his mouth before leaving the house.

“Dan, we’re 21, we are not building a snowman,” PJ reason as they stood on the pathway of the empty park. The four of them were the only ones there, the first to paint the canvas of white powder.

“Pleeeeeeeeease,” Dan begged.

“Come on Peej, don’t you remember how much fun it was when you were little?” Chris said, poking PJ in the ribs. PJ bit his lip.

“Keep in mind that it’s this or a snowball fight,” Phil pointed out. That seemed to sway PJ and he set off,

“Come on then, where do you want it?” Phil, Dan and Chris smiled as they followed his lead, each moving snow into a pile.

“We’re still having a snow ball fight, right?” Dan asked Chris quietly.

“Yeah, we’ll just surprise attack them,” Chris replied with a devious grin.

Twenty minutes later, the four of them stood back, proud of their slightly lopsided masterpiece. “I’ll admit, that was fun,” PJ said as he brushed of his hands.

“What should we name it”? Phil asked.

“How about…you’re-about-to-get-hit-in-the-face,” Dan suggested. Phil and PJ turned round to question Dan, only to be hit in the face with a cold powdery ball of snow each. Dan and Chris high fived as PJ spluttered and tried to get the snow out from his top. Phil couldn’t help but laugh along with Dan and Chris. That was until PJ picked up a ball of snow and threw it straight back at Chris, at which point Phil had to duck to avoid PJ’s bad aim. “Hey!” he exclaimed, “I’ve already been hit!”

“Sorry, it’s not like I was trying to hit you.”

“Yeah, you’re just such a bad shot that you’ll never catch me!” Chris taunted. And that was it; they were having the snowball fight PJ hadn’t really wanted, giggling away like little school girls as they hit each other and ran around the empty park, creating footprints over the entire thing. Dan chased Phil all around the little kids playground before finally catching up with him and shoving a handful of snow down the back of his top, causing Phil to scream out as the icy substance met with his skin. Dan collapsed from exhaustion, laughing breathlessly on the ground as he watched Phil jump around, trying to shake the snow from under his clothes. “You are going to pay for this,” Phil told him.

“Yeah, but it was worth it,” Dan sighed. Ok, they were 21, but snow days were still fun.

A/N: I thought I'd give you the second weather inspired one I wrote about the Fantastic Foursome. I wrote them both in one day so I was rather proud :) Anyway, hope you liked it, thanks for reading!
