The Nerd and the Street Racer

Mallory's POV

"Do I have to?" I ask my best friend A.J., while sitting on my bed. She has been begging me ever since she went to a street race to go with her to one.

"Yes, you're my girl best friend and you need to learn that street racing isn't that bad." She said walking around my room. I gave her a look and then point to her face where her scar is. "This is different." She said pointing to it.

"A.J. you know I don't like street racing."

"Yeah, but you know who does," She said grabbing my hands, "Reece and he's at every race, so please, please." Of course she would bring up Reece. I've had a crush on him since forever, but I'm too shy to talk to him.

I rolled my eyes, "Fine."

"Yay let's go." She said dragging me out to her new bike. After her 'accident', Reece and Slade bought her a new one. She handed me a helmet and then put hers on. We got on the bike and she drove to the race.

When we got there, she parked between Reece and Slade's cars. We got off and Slade walked over. He kissed A.J. and I jokingly gagged. A.J. playfully hit my arm and laughed. "Where's Reese cup?" She asked Slade.

"He's with Quentin talking about their race and how much money." He said.

Right after he said that Reece walked over, "Hey, A.J. I see you got Mal to come with." He said looking over at me.

"Yep, finally. Come on, I want to watch  the next race." She said dragging Slade off some where.

Reece looked over at me, "Why haven't you ever came before?"

I shrug, "Don't like racing."

"Well, we need to change that."

I laugh, "Good luck changing my mind."

"Is that a challenge?" He asked with a serious face, but I could tell by his tone of voice he was joking. I was about to answer when someone yelled for Reece. He sighed and looked back at me, "I gotta go race, but watch. Maybe you'll like it and come more often."

He got into his shooting me one last smile and drove off.

I smiled, maybe street racing isn't that bad.
